Black and White world

I've was diagnosed with GA over 20 years ago, yet today, I think I learned something. For me, anxiety paints the world in "Black and White," no gray areas. It's either this or that and having to chose often times causes anxiety. So here's what I learned today...I told my roommate, "my room was cold so I needed to shut the window, but, when I close it my room gets hot by the afternoon." His response was, "Why don't you close it part way?" In my Black and White world, that never really occurred to me as an option. My anxiety has taught me it's either/or. Do I leave the window open or close the window. Do I go to the party or not? It's never, "I may be uncomfortable going to the party but I'll go and only stay for a short time." How many other people with anxiety out they find this an issue? Just curious?
