Hey all,

I hear Magnesium is good for anxiety, has anyone tried it? But I'm confused to which one, I keep coming up with a list of different magnesiums, top ones seem to include Malate, glycinate and Magnesium L-Threonate.

Hi suffolkrelic I have not tried it but I have been doing research and came across some good information in the book I am reading called - Dare: The New Way to End Anxiety and Stop Panic Attacks Fast by Barry McDonagh.

Based on the book Magnesium is the relaxation mineral because it relaxes the nervous system enabling us to feel less sensitized it allows for better sleep and helps maintain a healthy heart. Magnesium is often nicknamed the original chill pill because it acts on the regulation of the stress response by reducing the amount of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenalin. In order to get the best absorption of Magnesium it should be supplemented with Calcium as they are both similar minerals.

He recommends 250 ml of magnesium and 500 ml of calcium daily with evening meals to start and doubled after one week. The type of Magnesium and Calcium is important, for Magnesium he recommends Citrate, Hydroxyfate or Glutamate. He suggest not taking Magnesium Carbonate, Sulfate, Aspartate or Oxide as they don't have the desired effect. For Calcium use Calcium Carbonate or Citrate they are the most popular. These supplements are hard on people with heart and kidney disease therefore you should see your doctor before taking these or any supplements.

I myself have a heart condition and will be seeing my doctor prior to taking Magnesium or Calcium.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I did. I still listen to it every chance I get - on Audible. I want to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Have you read it? If you haven't I highly recommend it.

No because years ago I read Claire weekes hope and help for your nerves and when it said if your afraid of it it will get worse. So that thought is in my head and I can't stop it. So anxiety goes on.

I use glycinate from time to time. It calms you, but if you take too much it’ll give you a headache and upset stomach. I try to use low dosage
