Acting calm

Deciding to practice these to send calming messages to the brain when in panic mode:

Don’t clench muscles

Sit instead of pacing

Do not hurry in step nor speech, walk slower, talk softer slower

Picture a calm place or the word calm in fluffy blue letters

Try to slow down breathing

People say fake it until you make it. I think maybe with practice this could possibly help trick the brain into calmness.

Any other ideas to practice?

Good ideas Starrlight! I recently read another book about anxiety and the author suggested telling whatever symptom to “bring it on” then you’re supposed to keep talking to it until the story becomes so ridiculous that you’re no longer scared. So I have been doing that. At night time if it strikes in bed I have been focusing on things I like. So I start making a mental list of things I like big and small and the next thing I know I’m more relaxed. Im going to try some of your suggestions now too. 😄

Noah Elierk not exactly sure of his last name spelling? Try different ones each has different tips?

Found out another reason to get my anxeity under control, it messes with those who have diabetes. Which I found out about 5 months ago. Makes it hard to control your sugar.

I also need to get a new doctor,. She can't tell me what type I have? Testing me every 3 months. I gave taken steps in getting control of it, except the stress part. I don't want to take the medication if I don't have too? It can be reversed.

Wow interesting about the diabetes and anxiety. True I think we can reverse it...I got rid of my panic years ago but it came back sooo trying again... it just lifted years back... wish it would lift for us all.

Yea. I even lost like 40 pounds not for trying, because of my anxiety I can barely eat. My acid reflux stopped. Normally woman my age have difficulty losing weight. The only excercise I've done is walk to the mail box.

It's not a good way to lose weight because I'm not getting any vitamins and not enough food which makes me feel weak.

Have you tried Boost the drink? I think it has protein, vitamins, helps weight gain.

Oh yeah true. Hmmm that’s a good idea to make your own; try googling ‘shakes for weight gain’ see what comes up.

lol I don't want to gain weight, as a matter of fact, I'm still over weight. But the way I was losing it wasn't safe. I noticed that when I'm in a better state of mind??? The weight comes back REAL FAST...I guess because my body's been deprived, feeling starved? Which technically it was...

Hi the "do not hurry" is what I'm trying my best to do cause that's what got me into full blown anxiety. Too much to do and thinking everything is my responsibility while trying to beat the clock is not the way to live, that's for sure!

Yeah I hear ya. I’m trying to slow down too. I feel too that I have so much to do and I need help but hard to ask for it typically. Best to you! You can do it.

I looked up the Sedona Method. Gives 3 ways to release the anxious energy or any energy...it’s similar to what I am practicing now... I will have to look into it further but it sounds great, thanks for sharing that Gerred!
