Propranolol

Got given 10mg of propranolol today to take twice a day. I was eager to try it, but now im worrying that my heart rate might go too low and I’ll struggle to breathe when i take them. Now I don’t want to take them 😭

Can anyone help??

this is what I read about this medication:

Propranolol is used to treat tremors, angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart rhythm disorders, and other heart or circulatory conditions. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack, and to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches.

Yes i read that too! People use it for anxiety which is what im taking it for. My heart rate is around 80-100 so I don’t think it’d drop too low?

I take 80mg a day for the last 3 months for anxiety and shaking. My resting heart rate on the meds is about 52 and I feel great. I was in your same shoes and it took me 2 weeks and a husband to get me to take them, I'm so glad I did. Best of luck, you will be fine.

Im only on 10mg! So i guess it won’t really harm me at all. I tried half a tablet first and it wasn’t that bad

I tried Propranolol a few years ago and even though it helped some, as a guy and certain parts wouldn't rise after 2 weeks on it said no more. For a woman I do not seeing blood flow to certain areas being an issue. Talk to the pharm and he said it was common issue for guys on any of the beta blockers.

Yeah i heard that it can be an issue with males unfortunately

I felt this way too before I started taking them, but now I'm on 60mg a day and it really helps me. It relaxes me and enables me to cope better. Give it ago..it won't slow your heart rate down so you can't breath, the doctor wouldn't give it to you if it was going to do that

Thank you! Makes me feel better to know that. I wish my anxiety wouldn’t get in the way all the time!
