Propranolol and timing

So I’m on propranolol (10mg twice a day + a rescue tablet ‘a third one for when and if I need it) the r the small pink pills I think they r the oral tablet kind not the slow release one. I’m taking one in the morning at 8:30 am this is a good time because of the 60-90 mins I read online it takes to kick in and by that time I’m at college. I have 8 hour days at college after 5-6 hours (from what I read the propranolol is out of my system). I take my other one at night 8pm along with my pill it seems like a waste because my anxiety is about going out not sleeping etc. By the time I wake up the propranolol is out of my system and I’m needing to take my morning dose is it better to take the second does half way through the day at like 2-3 pm? Help please have a docs appointment in a week and half but I don’t want to waste it especially as the first morning does is helping.

K .

This is a great question to talk to your doctor about.

I am on propranolol and if I was you I'd take the 2nd dose half way through the day. Best to tske when you feel you need it. I don't take mine at night.

Okay thank you was just double checking because she didn’t specify a time it only said one tablet twice a day how long do you wait to take your 2nd one x

I think the general rule is around 8 hours but supposed to spread dose evenly through the day in some cases. Why don't you call into a pharmacy and ask their advice? Pharmacists will be able to give you that kind of advice fairly easily just to make sure.

I suppose technically even if you did 12 hours in between that wouldn't be the same if you take one first thing in the morning and then before bed. As I say call in at a local pharmacy and ask there or maybe wait until you can see your own GP just to be sure.
