Take some deep breaths. Try not fighting it. Let it pass.
Okay, sometimes something that helps me is a distraction. Give this a try:
Watch this. Your anxiety is the chicken. You just need to put a coconut on its head. Stupid I know but try not to think about a chicken with a coconut on its head. Impossible right?
While you're watching the video, invasion your anxiety (personified however you'd like). Imagine that little anxiety sitting on your lap. Don't try to push it away. Your anxiety/panic is just an overbearing friend. It's trying to keep you safe. Thank the anxiety and just sit with it. Keep breathing. Breathe in through your nose to a count of four, hold it to a count of three and exhale through your mouth to a count of four. Repeat this five times.
Sometimes, when I'm having a really bad one, I say out loud, "I'm safe. These are just symptoms. I am safe. I am healthy." Just keep repeating those in between the breathing sets of five.
I really hope this helps and remind yourself that this won't last forever. You will come out of this. Ride those panic waves. You are not alone.
