If you are sick and anxious or active etc it is okay. Your systolic is high slightly but just not feeling good and anxiety could cause that. It sounds like flu like symptoms. I know the flu and strep are rampant in the US. Obviously though you are not in front of me for examination. I donā€™t know your age sex history etc. My first thought as a health care professional was flu. I suggest though getting a check up if it does not get better with rest. Without a full exam I would say itā€™s better to be safe than sorry. Cardiac issues arenā€™t what popped up when I read your post. Try some Tylenol or even Mucinex. If able of course. If no help try to go get a checkup. Sounds like flu/cold/strep but I can never say100% without a full exam. You could also try a hot steamy shower. Maybe you should check your temperature. A nice warm bed sounds helpful too.

Anthony your situation is different. Your BP probably isnā€™t as much your systolic which varies with diet, exercise, anxiety or emotions, pain, fear etc but your diastolic bottom number being so high.

Jodz your 140/97 is not that bad but knowing your history now of being on BP meds you may want to just put in a call to your doctor that is treating you for your BP. YES, anxiety absolutely will make your BP go up. So will many other factors. Diet, exercise or activity, fear, illness etc. I do think normally it is your systolic you will see the most change in due to those various factors. Your diastolic is pretty high. I think it is very good that it has come down. Keep a note with date, time, activity and BP/pulse. Do NOT stress over it though. Just a quick note. Stressing is bad for your heart and BP. I always recommend a simple doctor journal record of all new symptoms, BP, pulse with time and activity. For one it is good to look for patterns but to take to your doctor with any new questions you have. Personally I get nervous, maybe feel rushed etc and my mind goes blank.

If I picked you up on the rescue squad I would recommend going and getting it checked. I think itā€™s a good idea to call your doctor non emergently if you are feeling okay otherwise and at least talk to his nurse that has your chart. Still think it sounds like possible flu but it also has some atypical cardiac symptoms as well. I have to always say itā€™s better to be safe than sorry.

Normally your systolic should be 100 + age not to exceed 100. Diastolic 60-80.

With activity your systolic could be 220 minus your age. So 168 would be fine.

I

You know your body. So many non cardiac factors can affect BP. Definitely no caffeine, chocolate etc. No smoking which raises it.

Is your chest hurting? Back? Arm? I know you had general aches and lightheaded. I donā€™t feel you should be alarmed but cautious. Itā€™s always best to be safe rather than sorry. Your doctor could also give you a better idea with your history and meds when you should be alarmed. If it gets worse and bad chest pains go to hospital. A phone call is warranted now.

Adjust your BP can affect your temperature. With less blood flow you will get cold. I have poor circulation in one leg and my foot stays cold. Your BP is perfect at 127/77. I have not taken BP meds personally but I know having high BP can make you very sick. I donā€™t know about the Med and reactions you may have to it. Meds affect us all differently. Restlessness seems more like anxiety as you said you were worried about the Med. Keep track of symptoms to talk to your doctor about of course. Look on the bright side Anthony. High BP is Dangerous. Now yours is normal. I think the pros outweigh the cons. It would be great if you could work on living a more heart healthy lifestyle. With diet, exercise etc. Stay away from caffeine, smoking etc. That in itself can help with weight loss, cholesterol and BP. Which will not only give you peace of mind but a longer healthy life. BUT that can be easier said than done. (Trust me Iā€™m living proof!) Baby steps if nothing else. One small change a day. My mom has had 2 cardiac bypass surgeries. She smokes. The doctor told her to reduce her stress. That stress was harder than smoking on her heart. It would be great if she could quit smoking but increasing her stress significantly to do it was not good. Let the medicine help you and find comfort in the fact that it has. The benefits far outweigh the cons!

Hun I truly think it sounds like flu or a cold. Achy etc. If you donā€™t feel good you will have an increase in your BP. Thatā€™s perfectly normal. You know your body. I wouldnā€™t worry but I canā€™t say ā€œoh itā€™s nothingā€ I havenā€™t treated you. If you are able to rest maybe call your doctor tomorrow and speak to the nurse if you still feel bad. I just worry about telling people they are fine online without all of the information. You are familiar with this. It has gone down. Thatā€™s great. Try resting. I do not want to worry you at all. If I tell you youā€™re fine knowing nothing and youā€™re not I couldnā€™t live with myself. I have my own anxiety so I go overboard in my explanations. Having high BP and being treated for it you arenā€™t that high. There are too many other factors that can affect it. If your doctor isnā€™t open try resting. Itā€™s already come down. My mom has been much higher in non serious situations. If itā€™s going down and you are able to rest I would. Obviously if it continues rising and symptoms get worse you know your body. Sounds like this is not the first time this has happened. Hot bath or lay down etc. Relaxation. Talking to you I would not worry but I canā€™t diagnose you on line without seeing you but it seems like this is normal for you. Iā€™m very sorry if I worried you. I hope you understand. Relax and youā€™ll know. You know your history. I would be concerned if you had never had this much more. Itā€™s still not that bad though. You were working, sick feeling, worried. All things affecting BP. IM SO SORRY! Iā€™m OCD and very anxious. My posts are too much.

You are extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful. I have read many of your posts and I think you really, really "hide your light under a bushel." I am betting that you are a talented woman who doesn't recognize her own worth. This is the case with many of us. especially when dealing with depression or difficult life situations.

Hugs to you

Thank you sweetheart! When I worked in ICU I was confident. I have always had trouble with shyness and confidence somewhat. Unless I know what Iā€™m talking about. I think everyone feels best when they are validated. If Iā€™m questioned on what I know my confidence flies out the window and I second guess everything. My nerves and OCD donā€™t help. I know what Iā€™m saying but I get so scared someone will misinterpret what I say and just keep explaining non stop. Which could also make it worse I stress every time and pray they understand

You are way too sweet. Thank you. I wish I felt strong and confident. I havent in quite some time.
