Weird panic attack: Some friends are over... - Anxiety Support
Weird panic attack
also ive been having vivid dreams every single night for about a month, wake up feeling derealized and panicked but no med changes
Firstly take some deep breaths. I know you posted this an hour ago and you are either across the pond or elsewhere( I'm in the uk). It would have been 6am here then!. Take a deep breath in thro your nose and count 1....2....3....4 then out thro your mouth 5....6....7....8 and repeat until you start to feel yourself calming. It works for many and doesn't for others. Secondly focus on one thing and don't take your eyes off it. Repeat over and over "I'm alright, I can see(whatever it is you've chosen) clearly. Thirdly....you will be ok. Having ppl over can be stressful so it's nothing we haven't all experienced. Try to only limit it to a few...and those you trust with your life so if you do begin to have a panic attack they will assist. Now, the dreams. Has there been any change in your life recently(no matter how minor) have you watched a movie(I know this sounds stupid but trust me I once watched Dr Who and woke with a giant spiderwoman over the top of me) I was taking propanolol which are known to give night tremors. You haven't had a change of meds but go to the side effects part of what you do take and just look to see if night tremors can happen...its overly rare once they are in your system if you haven't experienced it early on but it's not unheard of. This could also just be the anxiety I'm afraid. It's normal to be confused and nervous and can't understand where you are when we wake from a particularly nasty dream...normals probably the wrong word but it's part and parcel of the wonderful anxiety we live with. Do you have a strong network of friends? If so, speak to them if you think it may help. Often a problem shared........and all that. Please speak to a doctor about these feelings because there may be something they can do....finally, I send you my best wishes and try and enjoy the time with your friends. Janie
I hope you are feeling better, i notice this was an hour ago. I get the very same symptoms when i panic, terrible shakes, hot n bothered. Sometimes if im hungry it makes me panicky. Had you eaten beforehand? If you're hungry don't ignore it and have a snack, it might help. Its so hard to try and keep your cool especially when there are others around. The most effective remedy ive found for my panic attacks is to hop up and move. Whether its walking down the hallway and back or scrubbing the dishes whatever distracts you and releases some anxious energy.
