Slowly getting used to Sertraline. What is your libido like?

I have been raking Sertraline for 5 weeks now. I have had a few dips these last few days where I have felt a bit weird. But I have carried on and tried to ignore it. Immersed myself into other activities at home to stop my thoughts going round which has helped. Not feeling Sexy with the new tablets though. Hope this improves a bit in time. Citalopram was rubbish in this area so fingers crossed this tablet is better. Has anyone else tried Sertraline? What is your libido like on it? My husband is getting annoyed with my disinterest in the whole thing at the moment! I'm just not feeling it.

I am thinking of trying Sertraline. Did you have any side effects other than loss of libido?

Yes feeling a bit low on and off but I suffer with depression too so I believe changing from one to another will have that effect. But otherwise I am able to get through it pretty well each day with some mindfulness thrown in each morning. Sertraline seems to be OK at the mo. Only on 50mg starting dose so far. I was on citalopram for years which didn't really do anything for me but I was scared to change. But I have now bitten the bullet and done it. So far it's fine. I say go for it. There's nothing to lose.

I was on Sertraline 50mg and am in the process of weaning off after 7 years! (I'm 25). My libido and my weight took a hit while taking this. I would say I gained around 10 kilos and sex was and still is a hit or miss area. Some days im totally up for it and some days, no matter how hard my husband tries to light my fire I just can't get into it. Which definitely makes you feel a bit flat! I can say though that Sertraline even the small dose I was on has been very good to me over the years and has got me through the toughest years after I left high school. The only reason im weaning off these (currently down to 25mg once a week! and struggling lately :( ) is because I read it could be harmful to pregnancy and babies. We would like to have a baby within the next two years and I've promised myself I would be chemical free before we really try.

Anyways, I know how you feel! My doctor did say that it would affect my libido so when im not in the mood I know what to blame!

I have the exact same issue! I was on sertraline 50mg for about 4 weeks and then my doctor upped my dosage to 100mg aboit 3 weeks ago. I have completely lost interest in sex with my partner - my sex drive used to be soo high that he couldn’t keep up! So this is. Huge shock to the both of us. It’s so difficult because I can feel that sertraline is really helping me but I don’t want my relationship to suffer as a result of continuing with it! x

Omg this is bad bad bad. It's horrible having little laid as I used to have a good one too. But something has to give to make me suffer less with anxiety or depression because that is worse for me. Forgive me for asking but why did the doctor increase you to 100mg, why not 75mg an inbetween dose? You don't have to tell me of course. It's just that after I see the doctor I feel worse and think I should increase the dose and then think no don't be silly you don't need to. Well I don't know that yet as it's not been long enough to tell for me. But labido comes back on and off especially if I reduce the dose for a few days then go back up!

Basically my anxiety was giving me skipped heart beats that I struggled to ignore and it gave me terrible terrible health anxiety to the point I was adamant I had a heart condition, when I got used to the 50mg dose I was still feeling them so they upped me to 100mg - low and behold I’m still feeling them so I think it’s something I’ll just have to live with but thankfully the higher dose means I don’t worry about them when they happen like I used too but I dunno I’m toying with the idea of just asking for a beta blocker and coming off so I can get my sexual appetite back! x
