Ok started with this sore throat bad cough. When feeling my neck I felt a bump near my collar bone. I can feel it move with my finger. Went to ent he said don't worry it's a nodule they come up when fighting something. He said sometimes they stay or disappear no concern. Omg I am convinced have lymphoma. My blood work was very good just freaked out even when I feel it when I touch it.
Nodule in neck.: Ok started with this sore... - Anxiety Support
Nodule in neck.
Chicago22, I agree, I said the same thing to myself while reading your post. It's our body's way of taking care of us by addressing the infection we are fighting. The nodule will always appear the closest to the area of infection. Do not keep touching it as it just builds up unnecessary anxiety. You will be okay. The ENT sees this daily. Take his advice that there is no concern for worrying.
Feel better soon. It will go away in time as the infection clears up. xx
Hi Chicago22,
I would be worried too until I had it checked out, definitely the right thing to do. TRUST the ENT diagnosis that the nodule is benign and will go away of its own accord.
Take Agora's advice about the relationship between anxiety and touching it. Try and think about something else when the urge to feel it comes on. Acknowledge the thought and do an action.
Hoping you get better soon
Chicago, I promise you Agora1 knows what she is talking about, she spent a long time working in a medical environment. Don't listen to anxiety whispering in your ear, anxiety doesn't know what it's talking about.
I have one too actually. Only mine is in the back of my neck. I have had it checked out by 2 docs. It’s been there for years. lol. I too flipped out. But just as your doc said sometimes they go away and sometimes they don’t. Your ENT knows what he’s talking about. Try not to worry about it.
I was in the shower washing my hair one day and tilted my head back and felt a painful feeling in one side of my neck. Felt it with my hand and it was a raised lymph node. Freaked out and made a Dr appointment. That was 2 days later and by then it had gone down. I was a little sick around that time and her opinion was that they pop up sometimes when you are sick and then go back down. I have never felt it before or after but yes it can be scary! Stay positive.
Thank you
