I went to my first support group meeting last night

It was an anonymous anxiety and depression support group and oh my goodness, it was great. Just being around people who get you is so helpful. I've really isolated myself this year so going there was terrifying but I'm so glad I did it. It was actually a big step for myself :)

I wish there was something like this in my area.

With donations, we can have many support groups.

Check out supportgroupscentral.com/

There were some online support groups there that I really enjoyed before I could find one locally

Congratulations HalloweenZoe, in taking a step out of your comfort zone. Sounds like it was so well worth it, as it usually is when we push our fear aside. I found them comforting and supportive. Really helped in not making me feel so alone at that time. Don't be surprised if you meet someone you know but didn't know they suffered the same thing as you. xx

Thanks! You're so right, almost every time I do something outside my comfort zone it's not as scary as anticipated.

thank you :) I was sick to my stomach before going. I spoke to the facilitator before it started and let her know I might not speak much because it was my first time and that I was so scared. They were very understanding and made it comfortable for me.

Support groups are great. No you are not alone! The ADAA has a list of these groups for anyone to attend. Try one, you’ll be happy that you did.
