Hi anxietymadman. I had something similar a while ago but it was always when going down stairs - a sensation I was gonna take a dive to the bottom. Turned out to be down to a meds change. Ask Dr for a meds review? 🇮🇪
Yeah it’s the fight or flight response over working I get up and walk downstairs and it jumps like 40bpm, also had tests come back normal and put on beta blockers which are helping.
So what I'm experiencing is normal?
It may have started during exhaustion or dehydration or maybe you were just hyper aware of your heart. It then becomes conditioned...I’m getting up, my heart is going to get faster....adrenaline kicks in so it naturally does beat faster/harder. Yes I had this problem horribly. I was terrified at one point to climb stairs. I can now physically exert myself without any difficulty and yes my heart beats faster, as it should, but I no longer notice it.
anxietymadman123, the responses to your concern are right on. One thing I have noticed with myself at times is that I hold my breath while going up the steps without realizing it. By the time I get to the top, I'm breathless. I could panic, but I don't because I realize what I have just done. Being so aware of the heart beating a little faster can cause us to want to protect it when we are exerting ourselves. The heart was made to work hard, actually it needs to exert itself, it is a muscle, muscles need to be exercised...
Arrhythmias coming from the sinus node are not dangerous. Talk with your doctor next time and let him explain it to you. If you are that concerned, the doctor can always do a halter monitor on you or a stress test. It sounds like if you have a diagnosis of the arrhythmias you have probably had a lot of testing done.
