What is the one (or few) things you need to have with you at all times in case anxiety strikes? Me its an elsastic band around my wrist and a bottled water, always.

Always the bottled water for me just makes me more at ease knowing it’s there on hand especially with the sudden dry mouth feelings. What does the elastic band do? Is it just something to distract away from the anxiety?

amanda19608 profile image

I might try that will have to keep it in my pocket though as I have bad carpal tunnel and anything around the wrist feels so uncomfortable

Mpa5524 in reply toamanda19608

same here on both hands, i have wrist splints on now as we speak at work. waiting for my nerve testing to see what their going to do.

amanda19608 profile image
amanda19608 in reply toMpa5524

yeah me too on both hands started when I was pregnant with my daughter and 9 years later I still have it. I just wear my splints when it’s really bad and bothering me. Since I had ulnar nerve surgery a few years ago on my left arm its relieved the carpal tunnel a bit in my left hand but right is still just as bad as when it started

Mpa5524 in reply toamanda19608

sure were not twins lol my ulnar nerve on left from being on this elbow typing all day has been my main issue and goes into the neck, I really need to find out when this test is going to happen, i'm calling them in the morning

haha honestly how similar are we lol. Mine was from a break in my elbow when I was little apparantly caused by scar tissue but I’m glad I went ahead with the surgery because I haven’t had problems with it since and that was 6 years ago. Hope you can get yours sorted out soon

Mpa5524 in reply to

basically massive health anxiety, carpul tunnel etc all other tests always come back fine.

in reply toMpa5524

Lately I have begun To see that it is a lot of work to be anxious. And I have just grown more and more tired of doing all that work between my ears and I have found that it’s OK not to care a little bit

Waouh! I never thought about a "security blanket"! When I see a crisis coming I tried to occupy my mind and/or hands, like doing a sudoku or sewing

Phone, bottled water, and some small cards with positive thoughts written on them.

ironmick883 in reply toMpa5524

There's an app for everything!!! I tend to migrate toward negative apps, Googling Health issues/ symtpoms, webmd etc... that gets me in trouble with the doctor

I take a bottle of water too! Always handy, helps in a panic situation to cool me down and hydrates too so 2 birds 1 stone!Chewing gum helps sometimes, I’ll take my anxiety diary so I can remind myself what I’ve achieved in the past. Also when I go out in the car and when I stay away I take my favourite cushion (I call it my comfort cushion) and maybe something that I can fiddle with to keep my mind occupied and headphones for a distraction 🙂

Hot water bottle, even in the summer! I have ibs and a hot water bottle eases my tum but it’s become a real security/comfort thing for me, I have to have one on the go all the time!!

bottle of water and some Magnesium lotion / Oil generally does it for me

or I'll look at pictures of my 2 yr old and remind myself to hold it together for him

Mpa5524 profile image
Mpa5524 in reply toDavey6101

I dont have kids so I do the same with the pics of my niece and nephew that i have around my house and at work. what is magnesium lotion, i usually take a vitamin one at night

Davey6101 profile image
Davey6101 in reply toMpa5524

I generally buy Magnesium Lotion in the HBA section of Wal-Mart. Its basically Epsom salts in lotion form [ Magnesium Sulfate] for a transdermal absorption, since I don't do well with oral supplementation.

Magnesium oil is a simple solution of Magnesium Chloride [ I use Ancient Mineral brand you can find that on Amazon or Vitacost. ] and boiled distilled water. Put it in a spray bottle, apply liberally, and rub it in .

quick fix for me anyway ...

Not trying to sell anything. just saying what works for me :)

I have one of these - zapals.com/media/catalog/pr... - which I try to keep on me as it gives me something to do with my hands when I'm anxious. If I'm having a really bad day, I'll go around to my parents as it's a lot easier not being on my own.

Mpa5524 profile image

I do the same with going to my parents

My Gatorade Bottle filled with Water, My Phone always glued to my hand in case I need to contact someone if something happens like symptoms or whatever. I always wear a hat as a comfort thing too
