Effexor 75mg...worried about bad reaction/ side effects but hopeful this will save me!

Started Effexor 75mg today.... The constant worry and panic I go through everyday has got me so depressed. I am slowly losing myslef, my fiance, friends & family over my mental health issues. I have been to Emergency 3 times over a 2 month period (2 times within the last 2 weeks) Doctors are starting to treat me like I am crazy. They tell me all the pain I have is not my heart and it is made up by my anxiety (which I can't believe and is my biggest trigger) I have no quality of life anymore and the physical symtoms of my anxiety and panic disorder are severe and consistant daily and its too much to hurt like this all the time. I am nervous about a negative reaction to this antidepressant but I have also heard some good things. I hope this can save me and help bring me back to the person I once was!

Hi kelsleigh, Believe that Effexor will be the turning point in your life and it will. I've been through every phase of anxiety that you are going through. It is not a pretty place to be, I will agree. However, there comes a point when your quality of life is gone. You are merely existing from day to day hoping that by some chance, you will wake up the next day cured of all your symptoms. The thing kelsleigh, is that it goes beyond the symptoms, it's the thoughts behind the symptoms that need to be erased from your mind.

This is where Effexor will come in and rebalance the chemicals in your brain that are producing these unwanted thoughts. Give your medication a chance to work. As your body and brain adjust to the med, you will start seeing a difference in your way of thinking. Besides medication, therapy would be a good hand in hand method in working out your fears and the cause of anxiety. Learning new methods in helping you control and rid yourself of these thoughts is important while on medication. It will give you a "go to" for the day you come off meds.

Read and learn everything you can on how something as simple as accepting anxiety in your life as not harmful will reduce the daily panic and fear you feel. The Effexor will be your crutch for now, helping you to think more rationally and not stay stuck in fear. Go forward each day, don't say you will wait until the medication starts working. Procrastination will get you no where. The time is now to start your journey forward. You have a long road ahead of you that will get shorter as the med takes effect and your way of thinking changes. Good Luck to you. We are here to help you and guide you to a very important step in going forward. xx

I agree 1000% with you. I started 75 mg of Effexor and after a period of time can tell a difference. Is it perfect yet? No but it's working! Therapy would also be a fabulous idea. It's hard to get through the daily anxiety without some help.

I take Effexor 75mg. Started with 37.5. This week I’m going up to 112. I was scared to start this medication because of the horrific stories online but the truth is that everyone is different. When I started it was getting me sleepy and then that stopped. I have no side effects other than huge pupils. It has helped with the doom/panic/hopeless/anxious feeling I was having 24/7. I’m going up because it seems to wear off and because of that I have take Xanax. It has also helped with my mood. Even though I still have Depersonalization/derealization I am able to enjoy life a bit more.

I am on 225mg now have been on this for nearly 2 years. Took my body some time to get used to it, it's not an easy drug to get used to. I think it does help me it doesn't cure everything but it gives me a helping hand each day
