Have anyone tried hypnoses for anxiety!?

I will start the sessions next week, looks promising after 1 hr consultation and preparing all pre-session paper work for the whole week!

I am desperate to try anything and already exhausting ideas since trying so many things and treatments!

Hi Scooter, hypnosis did not work for me at all but i think that was because of my therapist. In the last 5 days I feel much, much better by accepting anxiety described in the book by Paul Davies called "At last The Life", I could not highly recommend it, please go to anxietynomore.co.uk- so far this book is my life saver and i believe I am on my way to full recovery. Take care :)

This is a brilliant book and helps me through the bad spells. Highly recommend. I have it on my phone and I pad.

Ab2009, it was a most wonderful experience for me. I have no trouble in relaxing in a moment's notice if someone is directing me with a calming voice and soft spoken imagery. I wish you well. Let us know about your experience once you get started. xx

Ab2009, It can and will be more than temporary. Open your mind to what the therapist says to you. What you don't remember, your subconscious will. You are in control all the time but the escape for those moments in hypnotherapy can be amazingly relaxing. As you feel more and more comfortable with your therapist, the power of suggestion in what she is saying to you will carry you through long term. To this day, my mind and body react immediately when ever I hear the number 10 to 1 said slowly. My mind takes it as a cue to what the therapist was saying to me during hypnosis. My shoulders immediately drop down as I hear or see the number 10 to 1. My breathing resorts to deep and slow. Within moments, I am totally at peace with myself.

I wish you well with this method. It doesn't work for everyone but when it does work, it can become a lifelong internal companion for you in relaxing. My best. xx

Hi Agora1, thank you very much for your reply. I am happy you had such a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, my was simply disastrous.

I did not connect with a therapist at all, his methods were rather childish to me, I think he was very unexperienced from constantly looking into his notes and watch, it was so expensive and a complete waste of time. I am glad I tried and will keep looking until I find one who is just right for me.

I am in the middle reading the book by Paul David At Last the Life from anxietynomore.co.uk and for the first time i feel much better, my symptoms of anxiety are less drastic or just come and go instantly, i highly recommend it to everybody.Take care x

Ab2009, I am truly sorry it was a bad experience for you. Not everything works for everyone. I will say that your therapist certainly wasn't the right one for you. When I went the first time, the therapist spent 1/2 hour in just checking if we were the right match and would my mind be receptive to her suggestions. She tried some practice suggestions and it took immediately. We were then ready to start. I was in a comfortable lounge chair with a pillow and blanket, lights lowered as I closed my eyes and listened to her calming voice.

That's another thing Ab, the voice needs to be soothing to your ears. I hope you don't remove this idea of hypnosis from the table. It can be very beneficial with the right person.

It sounds like the book your are reading by Paul David has done some good. I'm not familiar with his writing but if it works in reducing your anxiety than continue on. My best always, Agora x
