Hi I've been getting terrible flu like symptoms these last few weeks. To the point now where it's almost constant. I've been have problems in my relationship and have been feeling very stressed out over it for a good few months now. I also have always had some social anxiety forever, not debilitating but enough that it can wear on me.
I've been panicking about the flu like symptoms thinking perhaps I may have ME as my doc has done loads of blood tests and found nothing else. Is it really possible to have these flu like symptoms from stress?

Hi PaulR70, yes it is very possible to have flu like symptoms from the constant tensing of our muscles. It can also be something called Fibromyalgia which is a muscle pain disorder due to immense stress. It does not show up with a blood test. Rather it is diagnosed by the number of trigger points and location you have them in your body. A Rheumatologist is more into this and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It's worth checking out. Good Luck
Yes you can definitely get flu like symptoms. I experience this quite often. In fact was dealing with it last night and was trying to figure out what may have caused it tonight. I had a very stressful argument myself last night relationship wise and it had me bothered deep down plus i wasnt sure if i had eaten something that my body didnt agree with again. As i was laying down for bed my body just started feeling weak and i kept getting the chills or a rush and soon after i could literally feel my muscles tense up from my back and up the back of my neck and to my head making my head feel heavy or like pressure. And this morning got up feeling sore and muscles aches. This flu like feelings only seem to happen at night when its bed time. I do still worry if stress can actually do this. Apparently so.
Sounds like you are run down from all the stress and body is trying it's best to deal with it. Stress and anxiety provide a whole host of physical symptoms. I'm sure if you start working on your stress and anxiety you may see an improvement. It does not hurt to pop to your doctor to see what they suggest. Try some meditation, relaxing bath, essential oils, walking and fresh air, herbal teas and magnesium oil or supplement x
