What Works For Me.

Here is just a list of things i do to help my anxiety. I know everybody is different, but maybe something on my list could help somebody else. All of these are natural, no medication.

•Journaling, when i have a panic attack or just anxiety, i always right it down, symptoms i am having, where i am, and what i am doing, date and time, and rate it on a scale of 1-10. Always have a little notebook and pen on me, anywhere i go.

•Listening to rain forrest or beach noises. There is an app called Atmosphere that i use where you can choose what you want to listen to, also has a timer, so it is great for falling asleep.

•Weighted Blanket, these help and they help very quickly, great for Panic Attacks. Now i dont have one just yet(because they are a bit pricey) so i take two body pillows and set them on top of me, followed by lots of blankets and covers.

•Cut out Caffine! Coffee, soda, and energy drinks.

•Try getting out of the house, even if it is just a trip to walmart. My therapist tells me that apart of the reason we have anxiety is because we have lots of built up energy, so go to the park, sit in the sun.

•Making sure you get ATLEAST 8 hours of sleep!!! If you have trouble sleeping, try the above Atmosphere app, Melatonin, or CBD oil. Also, when i have trouble sleeping i count back from 100, and i do loose track sometimes, in that case i just start over. (For those whom are religous like me, try praying before bed.)

Now, my anxiety is still not the best. I still stuggle everyday. But i do all of these things, and i can tell you that i havent had to go to the ER since July 4th. I am very proud to say that, i have had panic attacks since then, but not any that i had to have someone rush me to the hospital. I just want all of you to know that, we are all in this together and we are never alone, no matter how much we think we are. If there is anything i havent said that helps you, i would love to hear it. Thanks guys.

Hi ECole97,

We sometimes need a reminder of the tools that we have to help us and to feel that we are not the only one experience difficulties :)

My suggestions are :-

Acceptance of feelings and physical symptoms

Meditation

Relaxed Breathing

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Exercise and Being Active

Distraction

Writing worries/concerns for the next day before going to bed

That’s really awesome! Keep trying and never lose hope. Another good thing is to take a moment each day and look how far you’ve come, what you’ve done for the day and to give yourself a pat on the back. Even on days that are rough, there is still happiness and appreciation to find. If you do that daily you will start to teach your mind to look for positive thoughts!

Thank you ECole97 for sharing this. It really helps:)

Keeping note of what is happening is a good idea. I'm going to try that

I def need at least 8hrs sleep, it's just trying to get to bed early enough

I've never heard of a weighted blanket, I'm going to look into that

Thank you 🌸
