I went to our local library and took out three mystery books with full intention of starting to read for relaxation again. I've always been a voracious reader, but the past year or too my anxiety and depression have kept me from my passion. Going to give it another chance................
Trying again.........: I went to our local... - Anxiety Support
Trying again.........
I made a post about books earlier to see if anyone knew any good books to read
What kind do you like to read? I LOVE British murder mysteries! Ann Cleeves is my favorite! I got hooked on her when I found VERA a British TV show I get on Hulu. I also love the Grantchester mysteries, can't remember author names. Love anything British in the mystery line. Also love action adventure like James Patterson. His mysteries involving the Women's Murder Club are great. Just a few suggestions. I like Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series books since I love Scottish history / romance . Hope you will find something good!
I love autobiographies lately. Barnes and Nobles and books a million have become my home. I love non fiction books. I love crime drama books as well. My favorite authors are Kimberla Lawson Roby, Herman Hesse. Next I'm reading the autobiography of Otis Redding
I love British murder mysteries too! Seems counterintuitive that as anxious people we would like to hear about Mysteries but maybe it's the fact that they get solved?
I think that's it! We want to see the bad one get caught in the end. For me it's the puzzle the search that's interesting but YES the evil one better get caught and pay for it in the end! LOL!
Moonow, I live in Scotland.☺Have you watched the Outlander series? It's amazing. A lot of it is filmed around where I live. xxxx
Really?????? Wow! Lucky you to live is such a lovely place. Sadly, I don't get to see Outlander but hope to. They man playing Jamie is a dream and the gal playing Claire looks her part too. I hope to buy the series on DVD when we sell our house. I'm afraid too poor right now! Keep in touch, may I follow you???
If you want a hint of "what???" and "disbelief", a sense of mystery (the salt island), and relationship of sugar and tobacco with Africa, curious as where in the heck is the tiny, important island of Nevis, and how the american colonies, the Caribbean islands and England became so many countries in such a short period of time, and how some of them have just barely survived the danger of being washed off the face of the earth by Hurricane Irma 2 weeks ago (September 2017).....this is a good read even if you are not a history buff.....And I have not even mentioned the turns and ups and downs of lives of the remarkable peoples of the 18 Century, then give "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow a try. It's a book that can be read and put down for awhile and read a bit more at a time. No fiction writer could have conceived the life of even one of the major players in this historical book. My read led me to the conclusion that the US is still an experiment that its first president thought would only last 20 years, some wishes can come true, that salt and sugar were the key cause of slavery and then abandonment of the slaves in the Caribbean by English traders and plantation owners. And the basis of the current NY Broadway musical hit "Hamilton" with a cast of only Hispanic and black actors. Whew....but I always read at least 2 biographies at the same time to feel which is accurate and what is fabrication. No fabrication in "Alexander Hamilton".
HearYou, how are things going for you? x
Hello Agora,
We still need another week just to catch our wind, but we are dry and well and have no desire to use the swimming pool. Since Scooter is not here, my husband's large black cat is trying act like him. Does everything but bark. That's a little weird. Here's the joke for today: In two weeks we are scheduled to be back on that same ship for 7 days. Wonder how long the 7 days will change into this time? OH, my....I hope the laundry is all pressed again by then.
