So. Alright. I have anxiety as a lot of people do. But lately I have been having a lot of palpitations with it. And I can't tell if it is palpitations from anxiety or from a bad health reason.
I am only 18 years old and only hurts a little but only on the really big ones. It's really scary when it happens. I also didn't get a lot of sleep last night and I was on sensory over load from school. So is this anxiety or a real health problem?

Hi plushiesmakemehappy, at your young age of 18, with school over your head, I would chance to believe this is coming more from anxiety then a true health problem. It is always best though, when symptoms are new, to make an appointment with your doctor to make sure we are on the same page. Palpitations from anxiety come from the overload of adrenaline in our body due to stress. Let us know what your doctor says and please keep using the forum for support xx
Thanks Agora1! I had an EKG done a few weeks ago and it came back all clear. I also have always been told by every doctor who has ever down general heart tests of me that I have a very strong heart. And the last time I had blood drawn (a year ago cause gynecology) everything was normal.
Sounds good plushiesmakemehappy. Now we can work on your anxiety and stress issues. You will find a lot of young people on this forum going through the same with school and relationships etc. As you share your journey, so others will as well. Glad you are here with us.
I experience the same thing, and I'm 19! I'm too afraid of a heart problem to get a test done though. I feel so stuck-- about a year ago, my therapist suggested that I get one done to ease my worries but when I scheduled the appt with my primary doctor, she immediately just blamed it on the anxiety and said the test wouldn't be necessary. I was relieved (because I was super anxious about doing the test) but I also now am left wondering if there is an issue. I am too scared to even have my pulse taken, it's kind of ridiculous, but I don't know how to stop it. Are you the same way about having your heart checked out? I'm glad your test came back normal though, and that's super brave of you! It is crazy what anxiety can do to you.
