Just a little bit about me. I'm currently in the grips of a 4 month long anxiety nightmare with all the usual stuff......intrusive thoughts, fear, near panic, poor sleep, etc, etc. I've had anxiety and depression in the past once in my early 20's and again 8 years ago when I turned 50. I recovered on both occasions but this time, it just feels worse.
My question is does spending long periods on forums like these help us. I do spend a lot of time seeking advice comfort, inspiration on various forums, but my wife worries I am spending far to much time on the web and fears it might be counter productive. So I am left unsure. My anxiety causes me to be indecisive about what's best to do so wondered if you kind people had any views

Hi kitty. Me again ! Yes you are right. When I'm feeling desperate I do turn to forums for help so that's got to be helpful hasn't it. Balance is the key. My problem is I am totally out of balance
When anxiety strikes, it throws up all kinds of physical and psychological symptoms. So, when we get one of these symptoms, especially if it's one we haven't had before, we tend to turn to these forums or the Web to see if anyone else has experienced them....... I gives us reassurance that is is our anxiety and not something more sinister.
Hi just been reading Jeff 1943 and he is so helpful and knowledgable. I read some of your posts and see you haven’t posted for a while. How are you doing, hope feeling better now you are back on antidepressants. I am 73 and the Doctor has agreed to let me stay on meds for good as every time I slowly tried to come off them I had a relapse. I luckily don’t have health anxiety or panic attacks. I am trying hard to accept anxiety but it’s difficult. All I know is I am better being sociable and talking to people. I am lucky living near Liverpool as everyone chatty and friendly. Take care x
