I have severe clinical depression and have ECT treatmentsonce a week. Well I've missed that past 3 weeksbecause I live 45 miles away and have not had the money for gas and I also pay my friend to go with me because I can't drive home afterwards. Does anyone know if skipped treatments make depression worse?
Thank you

Why are you not having this treatment as an in-patient? Here in the UK that would be the case simply because of the side effects associated with it. Short term memory loss is a common side-effect and I certainly wouldn't undertake any driving whilst undergoing ECT. As mentioned, ECT doesn't always work yet I can remember being in a psychiatric unit when a young lad was admitted and for four days he used to hide away from everyone - including the staff - until he went for his first session of ECT and some four or five hours later he was the life and soul of the party!! As a semblance of balance, another service user (a totally horrible term but one that is in use) was a complete wreck before, during and after his ECT treatment. To undergo that at all these days the service user has to undergo a very long session of review from the psychiatrist. That is not always beneficial though. The last service-user I mentioned after discharge saw the need to float to his heaven downwards from the fourteenth floor of a busy city parking lot. I wish you well.
