anyone need advice or input?
Jeeezzzz I feel for u I've been experiencing anxiety don't think any depression but not sure for the past 2 months and it's taking over my life!! I am suffering with ocd type anxiety and feel like shit day in day out my mouth Ms runs away with itself I'm not sure if it's postnatal as I have a young baby too I've always had anxiety to some degree but this just tops the scale how do u cope x
My anxiety started when I was in my teens too. I suffered my worse when I was only 21 and at that time in the seventies I was terrified and couldn't understand what this fear was all about. I was put on diazepam and remained on it for many years. Now I won't take anything and have learnt to handle my fear a little better. I still get frightened and feel like that now as I write this. I think this site is brilliant for connecting people who suffer similar. I hope things get better for you soon.😊
Katie, that's really sweet of you. I also have anxiety and sometimes all you need is someone to talk to!!
Hi I'm 15 and I find myself having a ton of panic attacks. It all started two years ago when my legs hurt really bad I use to sit up at night crying. Turns out it was growing pains but that made me worry like crazy . Since then I've worried about every little thing. A month ago I was diagnosed with reflux and after my procedure the doctor said the inside of my stomachs was pretty bad from anxiety. For a month I wake up crying from not sleeping well. I'm dizzy, I'm lightheaded a new limb aches each day and I have really bad shortness of breath plus I shake a lot more. My parents think I'm a hypochondriac I think so too... Any advice?
Being a hypochondriac is very common among anxiety sufferers. This is due to the fact that those with anxiety tend to focus on every little feeling in their body. This can lead to more worry and more symptoms may even occur. Have you tried deep breathing or journaling?
Hello
I don't think you are a hypochondriac but sounds like you have anxiety and when we do we are so tuned into our bodies & how they feel we do always think something is the matter
But good news is you are young and with some support you can get help and before you get to deep into this way of thinking you can learn how to reverse these thoughts
It does not sound like your parents are taking you seriously , have you sat them down and explained even though they think this is all in your head it is very real to you and you would like them to support you in getting some help
Could you go to your Doctors maybe and explain to them you need some help , maybe therapy or counselling ?
You must still be in School , is there a teacher or someone at School you could talk to that may support you
I started really young like you with these kind of thoughts ....a long time ago now and people never believed me or they would say snap out of it and there was not as much Support if any back then so I would advice you to ask about and get some now and life will get better
I also have to say and it is not your fault but a lack in Admins I feel on this Community but you should be 16 to be a member on HU , so please be careful what you are doing on here
Take Care x
Thanks for the advice and I'll be 16 4 months.
Still not 16 yet though x
Um..well sorry I just need help. How old are you?
Add 36 on to your age when you are 16 in 4 months !
I am not been funny when I spoke about your age but as a Mum I do get concerned when such young people are on sites where there are suppose to have an age restriction and was merely pointing out to stay safe x
Are you getting treatment for your reflux? Anxiety does cause our tummies to go out of whack and reflux an be so painful and scary. When our tummies are bad, out anxiety increases. Our stomachs are connected to our brains. So, no, you're not a hypochondriac, you are actually feeling the pain of anxiety in your stomach. It sucks, but your can treat it with antacid pills, probiotics, good eating, stress reduction, and more. Try to get your stomach better and then the shortness of breath will go away too. Are you on meds? Are you seeing a counselor? Have your had your thyroid, vitamins, minerals, and hormones checked? Sometimes simple things that can be fixed cause anxiety. Check out the book DARE too. It helps with bringing our anxiety under control.
