Eye and vision anxiety symptoms descriptions
You experience visual irregularities, such as seeing stars, shimmers, blurs, halos, shadows, ghosted images, heat wave-like images, or fogginess.
You might also see things out of the corner of your eye that aren’t there.
You might also experience narrowed or tunnel-like vision.
It might also seem like you’ve lost some peripheral vision.
It might also seem like your vision is surreal, usual, and dream-like.
You might also see flashing lights, spots, and blurriness.
Some people experience a focusing problem where their vision is unusually blurry for no apparent reason.
Some people require having their glasses prescription changed because their vision has suddenly changed.

Eye problems vision anxiety symptoms can range in intensity from slight, to moderate, to severe. It can also come in waves, where it’s strong one moment and eases off the next.
Eye problems vision anxiety symptoms can change from day to day, and/or from moment to moment.
All of the above combinations and variations are common.
For some people, eye problems vision anxiety symptoms are more noticeable when fatigued.
I got vision problems and other things too from Cipro and then Avalox antibiotics. Avoid those (Fluoroquinolones) like the plague (unless you have the plague!)
Marisol91, yes the symptoms you describe are common visual disturbances of anxiety and are generally referred to as Shimmer. They cannot damage your eyes, it's best to accept them without obsessing and stressing about them.
I had the shimmer thing in my right eye about 2 months ago but it went after about 7 days. But it's left a grey smudge which I can only see in certain light conditions when I blink hard. I've had that before too, it passes eventually. I saw an eye doctor yesterday for a routine appointment and he took a close look a confirmed there was nothing wrong with the eye, anxiety strikes again.
Another visual disturbance caused by anxiety is scintilating scotomata, the visual effect that precedes migraine but without the headache. It dtarts as a hole in your vision, it turns into a flashing zig zag thing thst moves acrossyour field of vision and then disappears oof the edge, whole thing lasts about 25 minutes then everything back to normal.
Black marks you see momentarily when you blink hard whilst looking at a white wall or cloud I have named Sky Blinkers Syndrome. That too is anxiety and eventually passes.
So Yes,there are loads of ways anxiety cam affect your vision but it can't damage your vision.
Yes !!!! This has been happening to me ! Your not alone. Message me if you would like to chat . Hope we over come this soon .
Thank u so much it's just scary that when I look at things it makes it seem like I'm looking thru a waterfall
Yes ! I know . It's like it's jumpy or vibrating or something or almost like when heat comes off the streets or your car even like in the movies where there is like a desert scene or something I don't know it's so weird .
Update I went to the optometrist and he said what I was describing was an optical migraine hope this helps . Also guess what causes it stress ! He said it could take a while for your vision to go back to normal because your eyes are also muscles that tense up and when we tense up we put strain on our muscles.
I am so glad I found you guys! Been having this kind of vision and I am stressing out. Had a check up 2 months ago but the optha says just needed an upgrade for my glasses and nothing wrong.
