Pinprick sensation on skin

For about a month now I have been feeling pinprick sensations on my skin it feels as if some one poked me with a needle (very lightly not deep) I'll feel one on my arm then mins later on my leg, then on my head, all over, in no particular order and one at a time. Some times minutes apart other times back to back but always in different locations. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've experienced numerous symptoms with anxiety. Sensations in hands, pins and needles. The list goes on and on. I'm sure I've experienced what you are having, but never really thought about it since my other symptoms bothered me more. Have you ever been checked out by a neurologist ?

I will definitely talk to my primary care doc about seeing a neurologist, thanks! I have had this sensation longer than a month, but I feel that I've only recently become fixated on it because I work in the healthcare field and we had a patient with scabies and of course now I can't stop thinking about every single sensation that my skin experiences. I had a rash last year (diagnosed as eczema) for a couple of months and remember experiencing the pinpricks along with the itching but of course now I can't remember if It was the same or not. In addition to the pinpricks I am now experiencing crawling sensation but I believe that was from the medication used to prophylactically treat me for scabies. Obviously I need to stay off of the scabies boards online because I'm just driving myself crazy.

Being hyperaware of bodily sensations can be a symptom of an anxiety disorder. I used to have these sensations too, and for over a year had a metallic taste in my mouth. I agree that you should see if there is a neurological cause for your pinprick sensations. Should a neurological cause be ruled out, I would talk to a therapist. Mental illness often manifests itself physically and if you can't find a physical cause, always check out a possible psychological cause. Best of luck!

Are you taking meds or coming off?

Are you taking any new anxiety meds? When I was trying to find another antidepressant after being off them for a couple of years, my doctor tried Prozac and I had those exact same sensations. After being off it for about a week, the sensations went away.
