Im quite proud of myself today.

After spending the last two days in bed with crimpling anxiety i went out just for a run in my partners car. Ive never had anxiety going out in his car before but today i did, i tried to accept i was panicking and did deep breathing exercises which helped alot and took away the nausea feeling. I pushed all the negatives out of my head and by the time we arrived back home i was feeling a bit nervous but calmer. I had a diazepam in my back pocket but never used it.

I want to know is deep breathing just another way of fighting it? I dont know if im doing things right or wrong, i just want to get better.

I started sertraline 4 days ago and i think this has hightened my anxiety somewhat.

gettingbetter09, And you should be proud of yourself. congratulations on a job well done.

Deep Breathing is not another way of fighting it but a way to bring you into control again

both mentally and physically. Having that diazepam in your back pocket for a "just in case" moment is a bit of security in itself. Anything you need to go forward is a way of winning. You are doing the right things. continued success x

Yes ssri s make you feel worse until it gets better I think there is an adjustment period of about 2 weeks where you may have side effects and feel more anxious. Unfortunately I could not get through that 2 week adjustment but I'm hoping you do as you will feel much better as the weeks go on xx
