40 years ago someone discovered a cure for anxiety and agrophobia.

Right now, there are so many postings from people with anxiety disorder and agrophobia who feel like giving up. Most are bewildered by what's happened to them and have no idea how to escape from the maze of symptoms and strange feelings. Many have been searching for an answer for years.

Yet more than 40 years ago someone wrote a book that first explained why we get into this state and secondly set out a recovery plan that has worked for tens of thousands of sufferers across the continents.

It's a short book and it's written in a way that tired minds at the end of their tether can understand. In the U.K. the book is titled 'Self help for your nerves' and in the U.S. the same book is titled 'Hope and help with your nerves'. It's written by Claire Weekes and it's available new or used for just a few pounds or dollars.

May I suggest you go to Amazon and read a few of the many hundreds of customer reviews by people who bought the book.

The book is all about you.

I love this book. I am currently reading it again. I read this book in the 90s and have been panic free for many many years. Time spent in a very unhappy and stressful job and a major move to another state has taken a toll on me. Once again i am looking to Claire Weekes and know that this will pass.

Thanks for posting this!

Folks, if you're struggling, just help yourself to get better and buy the books.

Cheers.

Hi James,

If by any chance you read both yourself, which of the two would you recommend I read; Self help for your nerves OR Hope and help for your nerves. I want to go out and buy it today!

Are they not the same book?

in reply to

No. Two different books.

Lifeisworthliving, it's exactly the same book, different title in the U.S. for some reason.

Six mo. ago you were interested in reading the self help book by claire weeks. Did you get them and read them, and if so did you get the help you had hoped for?

Fair comment. I bought an Audiobook, and I also found it very helpful, and she does explain how things work. I agree. There are other authors too that are good and might be worth a try. I have had great results from these books. Good point Jeff.

Jeff1943 - the book with that title i see on Amazon only has 20 reviews (albeit, positive ones)....am i looking at the correct book? Here is what I see:

amazon.com/Self-Help-Your-N...

DylanD, the same book has different titles, in the U.S. it's titled "Hope and help for your nerves" and on the U.S. version of Amazon.com it has 536 reviews. In the U.K. it's titled "Self help for your nerves" and on the U.K. version of Amazon.co.uk it has 250 reviews. Just to confuse I see that on U.S. Amazon the book with the U.K. title is also available but with about 25 reviews. I think you're in the U.S. so go to amazon.com and search for the author Claire Weekes and you'll see the U.S. version "Hope and help with your nerves" with the 536 reviews. Sorry for the confusion.

I bought it in the 80'a, it helped me, I gave it away.

I just bought it again.

You are right.

Do they have green rea without caffeine

Jeff1943 profile image
Jeff1943 in reply to

Yes they do? Try any supermarket or you can order it online for sure. Green tea contains something called L-Thianine that counteracts the fight or flight hormone Cortisol which peaks about 8a.m. Excessive Cortisol causes anxiety and the green tea counters it. Some people find it doesn't work for them but I feel it helps me with that low feeling on waking that I sometimes experience.
