Does anyone else get pins and needles in their hands before and after a panic attack and how long does it take for it to go away?

Yes, I have had my hands and feet go numb at the onset of a panic episode. I lay down in a quiet room and take deep even breaths and try to relax until things come back to normal. Not always possible to do of course.

How long does it take for your pins and needles to go away though? Thank you for the response 😊

I think it was about ten minutes or so ...not too long. My doctor at that time pretty much dismissed me and said I had an "overstimulated autonomic nervous system" and I should learn to relax. Big help he was. My current doctor is much more helpful and not quick to give drugs.

My pins and needles have lasted two days but it's in and off. I think I may have punched a nerve or have tension due to anxiety. I suffer from back pain so I'm assuming that's the cause as well.

Hi Chanelle05 . Yes! I get this. It is caused from hyperventilation. Once your breathing returns to normal, the pins and needles will go away. I even get it in my lips and I've had it also affect my tongue.

Yes I do, often. Sometimes it lasts a long time and sometimes it only lasts a few minutes. It just matters how long it takes you to calm down and breathe properly again. I am sorry I know it isn't fun. It makes cry sometimes cause they are so exhausting. You can do this. That's what I say to myself.
