Hello. I'm 21 and I suffer from anxiety. I have no heart problems that I know of. But lately I've been having chest discomfort(tightness) for 1 week and a half now. The first night I felt it I went to the ER and they did an ekg & blood work but everything came out normal. They said it could of been costochonditritis. (Yet I'm not tender at the touch) Today is about my 3rd time feeling that way, I kind of feel it on the upper left side of my chest. Anyone else feel this? What can it be? Any idea what I can take?

Chest discomfort.

think the combination of anxiety and chest pain is one of the commonest posts on here. There seems to be at least one person every day does a post about this and yet not one of them ever has been found to have any physical problem with the heart or lungs.
Try doing a search in this site on chest pain and then read some of the hundreds of posts and replies. They usually have dramatically descriptive symptoms, get investigated, go to a and e or their doctors but there is never any abnormalities found.
Hi Sara5, I have costochondritis at times. I use warm compresses as well as a Tylenol. It goes away as fast as it came on. Irritation of the nerves between the ribs of the chest. Nothing to do with the heart or lungs. x
Do you have tenderness when you get it or just the pain? Mine is usually pain(tightness) no tenderness.
