I downloaded an app called Breathe - free - and it has a yoga video on it that aims to raise your heart beat to increase oxygen supply but for me it just reminded me that my heart was there. I'd recommend pausing the video when you feel your heart rate pick up and just stand with your hand on your heart beat until you calm down and then continue with the video which brings your heart rate back down and calms you. Hope this helps!
Yes! I have an arrythmia that I can always feel my heart beating. On good days when I can't feel my heart beating, my chest feels so empty because I'm so used to the weird beats. If I take start panicking about it, I go lay down on my left side with my ear against the pillow so I can hear my pulse beating in my ear. It helps calm me down. You're not alone
You're not normally supposed to feel your heart beating. It seems you have been so anxious for a long time that you forgot what it feels like to be normal. Stop testing to see if you can feel it, you're alive, your heart is fine, you aren't going to die.
Found this forum/thread while googling for "can't feel my heart beat" Never had a problem with anxiety before but yesterday I was having weird fluttering in my chest, co-worker suggested it might be anxiety. There are issues at work that could be stressful I guess. So last night I was trying to play with my breathing to get those weird flutterings to stop and I realized I had no heartbeat. I mean I seriously can't find it at all, not with hand on chest, not in my neck or wrist. All logic says it's beating because otherwise I'm dead so I went on to sleep but this morning, the flutterings are gone but I feel hollow and no heartbeat. It's a really weird feeling!
By the way I don't feel anxious or stressed in any other way. Weird eh?
I know this is an old thread but I am having this right now. Can't believe there are so few information about this. The feeling is so weird and unsettling I loose my mind when this happens. I am used to the pounding I am fine with that but when I feel this emptiness in my chest I freak out so much. It's just like you said not having anxiety is making me anxious. When will we ever be able to just relax and enjoy our lives.
This is an old thread but I am feeling the same way. One morning I woke up and I was not able to feel my heart beat. I usually had pounding heart beats every morning right after I wake up! I went to our university's clinic, they did and EKG and it was almost normal and they sent me to a cardiologist and he also confirmed that my EKG is normal. I asked them to do further tests and I will be doing them next week but it is a relief to know that there are other people out there feeling the same. I have been thinking I might have a heart failure! I hope I don't have that! Pray for all of us to be fine and live long! Cheers.
Felt this today, the constant worry that my heart isn't beating enough to the point where i can't feel it, I've had these symptoms before but when you cannot hold a breath to save your life and try to breathe normally gives you anxiety and on top of it, had some weird symptoms like feeling faint, shortness of breath, felt tired, and didn't have anxiety but not being used to feeling your heart beat gave me anxiety. Should i worry about my symptoms or is it anxiety causing it?
I am having something similar to your symptoms. Before last week my heart used to beat harder and pounding. But it has been a few days that it does not pound anymore. It makes me worry that something has happened to my heart and it is not pumping enough blood. I dont know...
I've been living with this 'emptiness' for almost a year. My heart is like a state when you havent sleep at 4am.
Im guessing this problem is because you got stressed by something and forcing yourself to calm down trying not to get panic. Not just once but for a lot of time?
Since i can't feel the beat I cannot seem to do panic. Like chest pain even trembling and cold sweat. This issue add me emotional numbness as well
This last week or so I've been having chest pains and I sit and convince myself something is really wrong which just makes it worse, now I'm sitting in work trying desperately to find my heartbeat. It is comforting to know there are other people feeling this
Anyone managed to find an answer for this? I'm having the same issue at the moment, used to have a really forceful heartbeat then overnight it just dissapeared and I can't feel it at all. Not even during excersise or panic attacks. Feels so wrong as if your hearts not able to beat hard enough
Any luck on finding out what happened???? The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. And I’m freaking out ...! I hope it’s not heart failure. I don’t feel my pounding heart anymore.
