Have had many episodes of depression coupled with heavy drinking. The drinking is tearing my family apart and the guilt is making me even more depressed and anxious

Hi Smartbob1, it is a circle completed by the heavy drinking. The fact that you know that and can see what it's doing to your family, makes you one step ahead of others who deny the cause. Please find the help you need. You have so much at stake now, your family and your mental and physical health. I wish you well. Don't put it off until tomorrow please. xx

I am so sorry Smartbob1. I hope you have a therapist or counselor who can help you through this. It is not safe for you to feel this way. The guilt and anxiety you feel is also wearing you down. There comes a time that we all have to draw the line or we tend to become stuck in Limbo. I hope some others come on the forum and give you some input. It really seems like you are struggling so hard right now. I'm sure there are others who have been in your position and can offer some advice on a positive note. Meanwhile, I hope you will get the help you need. Take care x

Hi smartbob, I have a very close relationship with someone who mirrors what you said in your post!! Unless your addicted to alcohol it's the worst thing you can do with depression is drink alcohol!! It simply makes you feel a million times worse and then your stuck in a vicious circle. Depression is such an awful illness, I think some people are more inclined to suffer from it than others but I do believe we are all touched by it at some point in our lives. You can't help how you feel. If you haven't had any form of therapy it's worth looking into.theres no shame in it and it helps lots of people to get better.go to the doctors and ask for help. Do it for you and your family. They can only do so much but you need to ask for the help. My heart goes out to you all and I hope things start to turn around for you soon🙏🏻
