Anxiety: Has anyone tried going to inhome... - Anxiety Support
Anxiety
Hi Sfqueen: Do you mean in hospital treatment? Because I was able to find someone
to come into my home when I was agoraphobic, they were student psychologists.
Yea I meant in the hospital but the one I research is a month but I really can't leave my child so long she is so attach to me.. How can I go about getting someone to come. To my house
Sfqueen, it wasn't easy. I contacted several Psychologist offices and of course they all said I would have to come there which doesn't make sense if you are agoraphobic. I finally found one agency who said they had 2 college students who were doing their dissertation preparing for their doctorate degree. They studied me and came to the house twice a week for 6 weeks at a very nominal fee. They were great, had the latest ideas in dealing with anxiety. They were compassionate. I think I really lucked out in getting that opportunity but I wish you the best in finding someone who would do that.
As for in-hospital, it is probably the best option to get the full care that you would need. 4 weeks is the usual amount of time it takes to address all the issues as well as try different medications and monitor you daily. I understand in having a young child how difficult that may be. In Chicago, we also have out-patient therapy on a daily basis. I believe it might be for the same length of time, not sure. You would bring a lunch and stay the day. Nothing on weekends. That might work better for you. Of course you would need doctor's order on that. The great thing about that is you are surrounded with therapists and have alone time (one on one) as well as group sessions. These are some options to consider. xx
