Yes I am very familiar with that feeling and also with being fed up. Tightness in the throat is a panic symptom but it also is trying to protect you. Believe it or not it is there for the purpose (unconsciously) of trying to protect a part of you that was hurt earlier. Hang in there.

Ah this old chestnut. It's taken me years to slowly figure these things out. Your body's stress response will tighten your throat as a protective measure to 'keep an airway open' in case of danger. Try some relaxing breathing exercises and just imagine your adrenaline / cortisol levels dropping. Don't think about your throat while you do this otherwise you'll keep the stress there. I know this from years of not knowing how to deal with this!

I have a similar issue with my throat. My throat sometimes feels like its' overly dry and it feels clogged like its' gonna close up. When this strange feeling comes I stop, pause and focus my attention on something fun or soothing. As soon as I take my attention away from my bodily feelings my throat returns back to normal. I was diagnosed with anxiety/panic attacks when I was 18 - 19 yeas old, I am 53 years old now. I learned early on in a midst of an anxiety attack to teach myself how NOT to focus on my bodily feelings. It takes a lot of practice but it can be learned. The more we focus on our bodily functions it can heighten your anxiety and make you feel worse. Unless you have a medical ailment that causes certain scar bodily feelings, try your best not to focus so much on what your body is feeling. It takes practice but it can be done.. :)

Hi

I have had a heartbeat in my throat years ago when I was in high school and all the symptoms you described . For me, it was because I was only eating a little and my stomach was always empty making my heart race.

Although it could be many things. Like thyroid , anxiety, or stress. To me it sounds like your heart is racing a little. I wouldn't worry to much, but just have it checked out. It could be as simple as those mentioned above.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

The feeling of one's throat being clogged up and sticking sounds very much like Globus Hystericus. It is brought on by severe stress or panic and can take some time to clear but is in no way serious. If in any doubt, see your GP.
