Hi, it's 3.30 in the morning been in bed hours and i can't sleep, I suffer with anxiety and get throat issues, tonight I'm trying to sleep and I have the feeling that there is something in the back of my nose / throat and I cannot clear it, I've blown my nose and coughed a few times but it doesn't help, it feels thick/ sticky. My nose is clear, I've not had a cold. It feels when I breathe I'm not getting a proper breath, I just want to sleep I'm fed up now.

Throat issues can't clear it
Hi Lolly75, I'm sorry you can't sleep. I get that myself at times. Nothing to blow, a thick mucus type drip at the back of the throat. I notice I get that when having too much diary products. Cheese especially but then again medication can do this as well. Try not to worry about not being able to get a proper breath. Also prop your pillow a little so that you aren't lying flat. Usually when I swallow several times, I can feel that phlegm go down. Feel better
Hi, thanks for your reply, I know in my head that my breathing is fine I have one of those finger pulse meters and my oxygen Is 99 %, but my body is telling me different, I had a tummy bug yesterday, my monthly is due and I have an appointment for my Mri results tomorrow well later now, I have a lot of trouble with my neck, back and shoulders, tightness, numbness in my arms hands and fingers, pain. I don't eat cheese and I'm not taking any meds, I do also suffer with Ibs and acid reflux. Thanks for listening.

Hey there. It's probably anxiety, but let me ask you this: If you look at the back of your throat, does it look like you have little air or liquid bubbles, or does it feel like it? Also, do you have pain on one side of the throat only? I've had throat issues because of anxiety and it's the weirdest part of your body to be affected by anxiety, but it can happen.
That happens to me from reflux. Zantac helps me--not sure if you're on an antacid already.
Hi Lolly75. It really sounds like post nasal drip to me. I suffer with it too. Read this .....
Glands in the nose and throat normally produce 1-2 quarts of mucus every day. This mucus moistens the lining of the nose and sinuses, humidifies the air, traps inhaled particles, and helps to fight infections. Normally this mucus is swallowed unconsciously many times throughout the day. When the mucus becomes thick or excessive in volume, it can cause the sensation of post-nasal drip. Post-nasal drainage can often lead to cough, sore throat, frequent throat clearing, and the feeling of a lump in the throat.
An excess in thin, clear secretions can be from viral infections, allergies, spicy foods, temperature changes, pregnancy and some medications (birth control pills, blood pressure medications). Increased thick secretions can occur from low humidity in the winter, a decrease in fluid intake (dehydration), bacterial sinus infections, or from some medications (antihistamines). Swallowing problems or acid reflux can give patients similar symptoms of nasal/throat drainage or phlegm.
A correct diagnosis of the underlying problem is essential to properly treat a patient with post-nasal drip. Treatments for viral infections, allergies, and sinusitis are discussed in other sections. Acid reflux is treated with over-the-counter or prescription medications, depending upon the severity of the symptoms. Other causes are less common and should be thoroughly evaluated by an ENT specialist.
I understand that feeling and what's actually happening is a dry spot in nasal passages and throat, and the more you check it the more you are aware of it and the more you obsess and it's nothing but dry spots . Sip water through the night and use moisturizing saline spray in your nose . Oh yes,,,, and breathe😊
We were just talking about throats and noses and it's been feeling like something in my right nostril so I took a light on my phone and looked and I see a sore that comes out a little it dies not hurt though and I'm freaked out that's also the side that will bleed a little. I was at my ENT about 3 weeks ago to check the bleeding part and he said nothing to worry about, however I only just noticed the little inflammation today so I don't know if it was there when I went to ENT , wondering if I should go back. I googled and everything from a pimple to sinus cancer was in there! It's 5 am and my heart is racing so is my mind
Could be post nasal drip could be silent reflex or honey it could simply be another horrible unexplainable symptom of anxiety..
Xx
you have GERD or post nasal drip
