hello guys
My throat has been sore / scratchy for the past 3-4 months now !!! Super scared what could it be i am having an endoscopy soon as i do have alot of food & acid come back up & im always nauseous every day and do feel a lump when i swallow sometimes . i do have pain on the left side of my ear right behind it also . 
Sounds like you could have GERD/acid reflux. It’s very common. I have it and take Nexium every morning. Maybe change your diet and drink lots of water and try your best to reduce your stress levels. Good luck with your endoscopy & I hope you feel better soon!

would gerd cause a sore throat for many months? i will look into nexium because at this point i cant eat anything without it coming up or getting stuck in my throat
Yes it could definitely cause a sore throat and irritation. It also could cause throat tightness. Try to not eat before bed and elevate your head with your pillows. It’s good that you have an endoscopy coming up. Your doctor will be able to see if there’s anything going on and give you some advice

I agree with savannah I had a sore throat since December I also have a bit of a horsey voice now as well my dr sad it was gerd/and reflux put me on lansoprazol (however it spelt)
Yes me too ive had a sore throat since december its been 4-5 months and nothing is working they gave me pantropazole and that doesnt help either i still have a sore throat and keep having to clear my throat or itll get hoarse also my food comes right back up or doesnt even go down it stays stuck in my throat it sucks that the medication they gave me didnt work
It’s horrible I’m identical to you my dr didn’t give me anything I had to buy over the counter meds when my throat is dry it sounds like I’m a butch bloke my husband laughs at me because of how deep it goes but it’s not a laughing matter even though he means well.. I know exactly how you feel but I not go drs till this is over with it’s just annoying isn’t it

I said the same i will see every doctor before i deal with this again for another month! have you seen an ENT OR GI DOCTOR? I have an endoscopy in 2 weeks and im so scared that i hve throat or stomach cancer i hate feeling this way though and the other thing that scares me is being nauseous all day every day i heard it isnt a symptom of gerd

If not the nausea will be your panic and anxiety that always one of my symptoms but when I get a reflux I’m nauseous... I went to my gp she didn’t seem that bothered told me to go back...it’s also because your fearing the worst it’s only natural I do constantly I have health anxiety bad and I think that sort of thing daily it’s horrible isn’t it.. I’m sure you are fine sweetie keep your chin up best you can

Thank u so much i told my doctor also he just said we would see what the endoscopy says i have VERY VERY BAD ANXIETY ALL DAY EVERY DAY IM WORRIED OR SCARED like literally every day all day i stay up all night thinking i have every problem anxiety sucks also
I had same symptoms and tested positive for hpylori. Will they be testing you for that during your endoscopy?
I have a breath test this friday for h pylori i had h pylori years ago and i dont think its that ive had these issues for many years the trouble swallowing the food coming back up or getting stuck in my throat and a very sore throat and ear pain
Why??? Have you Not seen a doctor 3-4 months ago??? Could be allergies? Don’t waste anymore time, see a doctor tomorrow
Yes i have and all they been doing is guving me different meds and none work i have an endoscopy coming up
Hi I'm exactly the same. It Al started in December its constantly sore and scratchy and makes me cough at times. Also an increase in headaches... Everyday I'm convinced there is something wrong but after speaking to my phycologist she thinks I'm giving my self them. I'm constantly clenching my jaw which can lead to a dry mouth which then makes it scratchy etc... I'm hoping this is the case and there's nothing wrong. It's horrible going through a pandemic and always waking up to a sore throat. Has ur endoscopy been rescheduled?
No my endoscopy has not been rescheduled i would die if they did reschedule it im so ready to get all this over with... i wish they would refer me to an ent my throat is what annoys me bot my stomach issues .... i hate waking up to a sore throat its been 5 months i always clench my jaw too i have tmj so i hope thats what it is because i also have left ear pain
Aw I have tmj and always get ear pain to. I never know if it's sinus, this virus, anxiety or something more serious. It's so horrible the un certainties... Pleased ur still having ur appt. My cardiologist appt has been moved back for three months now x
my ear pain is right behind my ear on the bone i keep telling my doctors and they just ignore it i also have a telehealth appt today and im so ready to go off on every doctor as nobody takes me serious! Thank you and i hope you fee better i used to always get dizzy super dizzy sometimes id throw up and sometimes i couldnt get up or move from being so dizzy it went away not fully but i try not to think about it i also had very bad palpitations they told me it was called PVC's but they were benign but the feeling was just so annoying
Aw I'm sick of my GPs even after I got diagnosed with pots they told me there's no such thing as pots and totally undermined my cardiologist... Everything is anxiety these days. Its so frustrating... I ended up paying private but u can't afford it 24/7... I hope u get somewhere. Think I'm just a walking nightmare really but that's why I like this group cause I'm not alone lol x
Yes i love this group and they also think i have pots but i refuse to get no where i will see a doctor until i feel better
I'm also constantly dizzy and have really bad indegestion which ic never suffered with before. It's constantly giving me pain in my upper back and chest....
Upper back and chest pain is probably from the indigestion have you seen a GI Doctor? Have u ever had an endoscopy?
It’s the waiting around for appointments and results I think that’s worse part that’s when the worry and anxiety kicks in at it’s worst

I have the same as you it's terrible to feel like that,I would not let them do an endoscopy it's the worst thing ever and if you have enxiety,their is other options,I got a c.t scan and it is no bother,I'm waiting to get gallstones operation,hope you get it sorted out
I was hoping today when i tell my doctor would i still need an endoscopy if they already did a ct scan im so scared of the endoscopy
The c.t scan tells a lot,I with anxiety I would not go for endoscopy,I have a fear as many people says it is terrible,my friends as well ,I have a bad stomach lanzprazol did not help.i keep getting stomach bugs,Vanessa read in to scans,theirs always other options anxiety doesn't help eh
My stomach isnt what bothers me its my throat my doctor thinks the acid is making my throat " raw " pantropazole is not helping either
I haven't read all the replies, but have your dentist check for TMJ in addition to the throat stuff.
A chronic post-nasal drip can be the cause of a sore throat as well as stomach trouble.
The stomach doctor doesn't mention "Hey, how are your sinuses?"
The ear, nose, and throat specialist doesn't mention "Hey, how is your stomach?"
A ton of mucous in your stomach hurts!
If you have this, the best thing you can do for it is to use a drug-free saline solution, either as a nasal mist, or for gentle irrigation. I got sick of making the solution from scratch, so now I buy Arm & Hammer "Simply Saline - Daily Care". No kidding, this helps you breathe, it helps sore throats, and it fixes stomach pain (if the mucous is the problem).
One more thing. If you get some nice, fresh thyme at a good spice store (Penzeys is nice) and make tea, it works great for sore throats. You can even gargle with it. (Put about 1 teaspoon of dried thyme leaf in a tea ball, add boiling water to fill your cup, and steep. Sweeten with honey if you like, that helps too.)
I am taking a nasal spray that the doctor prescribed called fluticasone it is for sure not working on my throat
I also have very bad tmj
