Hi neonlady.

I'm the same, no sleep for me tonight again, that's why I'm reading the posts on this site.

My anxiety is pretty bad at the moment and I'm feeling just like you with the racing heart, I know it's anxiety though so I'm not worried, just wish I could get to sleep.

How long have you had anxiety?

I just got it out of the blue I just started getting a racing heart I'm afraid to do anything that I used to do and I feel like I'm not worried or stressed so I just hope it's like not a heart problem I'm 42 yrs old

I have heart arrythmia so I have a racing heart quite often, but I know this is anxiety causing me to feel this way, however you say you aren't feeling anxious or stressed at the moment so it is a bit surprising. Have you need overdoing things lately and have you been sleeping ok?. These are the things that may bring on a racing heartbeat.

I don't feel like I'm overdueing it n yea I sleep ok I wasn't until he gave me lexapro

I find any of the drowsy type anti- histamines help, and to a lesser extent, but helps a bit, Bach night time remedy. Hope you find something that works - not sleeping is the pits!

Is Lexapro an anti depressant? How long have you been taking it and has it helped up until now with your racing heartbeat?

Gosh we are such hero's, living with anxiety etc is the worst thing ever, it consumes you, do you find this?

Are you awake because of your racing heart or do you not sleep well anyway?

I really hope you can get some help with this problem.

You may have an arrythmia such as I have, it's nothing to worry about but it can be upsetting as it can happen at anytime, although it should return to Sinai rythm on its own within a few hours or so.

I've been on lexapro for a week yea I sleep ok but there r days where I don't lexapro is anxiety n anti depressants med they only did a ekg n it came up normal they said

If your ekg was normal then I'm sure your heart is fine, even though you don't feel anxious I think your heart is kind of disagreeing sort of!! Probably because the racy heart is worrying you it's not going away. I'm sure it will calm down if you try to think of something else for a while, read a book or have a cup of tea but try not to notice what your heart is doing, it's hard I know.

I wish you all the best with this problem and I hope it sorts itself out.

Are you in the UK?

What kind of tea

Camomile tea is really nice and a great relaxant. Unfortunately it doesn't work if you're really anxious like I've been tonight. It's 5.30 in the morning here and I've tried to sleep but can't. I wonder if the Lexapro has a side effect that makes your heart race, read the leaflet inside the box. How do you feel now?

Best wishes, hope you're heart is beating normally now.

Hi, I had something similar a couple of years ago--out of nowhere my heart would start to race, even though there was absolutely no reason for it. I started tracking the symptoms and they were clearly linked to my monthly cycle. Look up Dr John R Lee, 'What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause'. I started using a progesterone cream, which you can get at health/vitamin stores in the States. It's made a big difference for me.

I have had anxiety for years. I am 26 and I have gone to the Dr. several times because I thought it was a heart issue. I recently started taking vitamin b and every few days I take magnesium. I feel a lot better too. Another thing I have started is working out. I usually feel very weak afterwards but with rest I'm okay. Try this please because I felt like there was no hope left. I turned to medicine and I think I just needed some vitamins.
