constantly thinking about my breathing
I do the same thing and I'm still here. I'm sure a lot of us on here do. But yet we are still breathing and we are still here. I'm guessing it happens because you're anxious. Sounds lame but..if you really can still breathe okay without help you are okay. If you had real trouble breathing, could not get a breath, you would know. If that happens go to the hospital. If you're like me and it just FEELS like you cannot breathe but you still do, try to even it out and/or talk to a doctor about anxiety meds.
I'm the same way girl. I sit there and tell myself breathe in breathe out. And it just comes randomly I hate it
I get this but breathing is the most natural thing nown to man but when I try obses over it it makes me go into turmoil
The classic OT paradigm is to use a paper bag to breathe into in short spurts of breathe. Yet remember, your sympathetic nervous system and your autonomic nervous system do the 'thinking' about breathing for you so you do not have to do. Otherwise that would be all you do!
Go for walk, enjoy fresh air, trees, flowers. You don't have to think about breathing. We just do unless we are dead. My question to all that say they feel like they are going to die. What symptoms do you have that indicates you are dying. Are you I'll in hospital or bedridden at home. Do you have incurable disease. If answer is no, you are not dying. Stop feeding your brain that message. Breathing is natural and if you give it the attention it's not normal, your brain registers that too. Exercise or get active and your breathing will become normal.
I'm the same at the moment. I'm thinking about my breathing constantly and it's really distressing. I'm speaking to my docs about it and hoping that meds might help to put the thoughts to one side for a bit. Not sure if anybody has tried anything different that helps?
