Hi everyone, not sure how this works but I'm trying to reach out & start feeling better. I have PTSD and depression.

Getting Started?
Hi veil and welcome first thing is have you sought medical advice for this? Seen gp or a professional? I'd ask to see a councillor get some professional help. What symptoms are you getting at the mo?
Hi Evey, thanks for your reply.
I am under a doctor's care and actually started a new medication six weeks ago that is helping. The last few years have been filled with depression & anxiety. I feel very isolated and I'm trying to overcome that. I had a very abusive father and it caused trauma. It still affects my life decades later. Seems almost impossible to get his destructive words out of my head. I think emotional abuse is as bad or worse than physical . People say get over it, it is the past. But that does not work. How about you? What's going on?
I agree emotional and mental abuse is awful...glad you have seen a dr...have you spoke to a professional about everything? My story? Bad childhood grew up too young left to look after little brother always having to prove my worth as everyone else came first mum was a nurse every ailment was serious and now I suffer health anxiety that's the short version lol how has your day been today?
Very quiet day, just reading, relaxing and hanging out with my Beagle Carlie. I find dogs to be great companions. I got her from a rescue group on March 1st this year. She's two years old.
What is your anxiety like? Panic attacks? I get them and they're just vague, not specific. Come out of nowhere. The worst is to wake up with one. They can be paralyzing, but thank God they have been under control with the new medication. What do you do to feel better? I'm in New York, where do you live?
Hi I have a rescue dog too she's part Labrador and part staffie I'm in uk my anxiety has many issues, fast pulse, chest pains, sweats, stomach cramps, feel like choking, head pains, jaw pain ...to calm down? I come on here and try and help others that seems to relax me or play games on my phone or use my chat app and talk to friends
I think it's great that you try to help others though you're suffering. Do you try any medication? I know some people are against it, but when it's been really bad I don't care, you need relief. Whatever helps. I try to concentrate on my dog, sometimes that helps. Just taking her for a walk
can get my mind off it. I tend to isolate myself and that is the worst thing to do. We have to remember we are not alone in this. Lots of people suffer in silence. I have a friend who lives in London. She has a dachshund named Tolstoy. Can you post a picture of your dog? What's her name?
