My question, Since being diagnosed i was given Amitriptyline 10mg which really didn't help, so my Dr up my dosage to 20mg still no help. next the Dr change my medication to Propranolol 10mg(beta Blockers) if n e thing i now feel worse. i get these weird feelings in my arms but only the top part of my arms, its hard to explain wht it feels like. but ill try. its like a feeling of something warm but not and its usualy follows by a type of head rush and its making me feel so ill. If n e 1 can offer me n e advice i would be so great full.

Hi Lindalou, thank you 4 replying. any advice will be great full. Perhaps if i write a bit more detail. about 3 years ago i started having problems sleeping, just as im falling asleep i will wake up gasping for air, and when this happens i can see things that arnt there like red figures or blurred images. this happens about 4 5 time a night b4 i finaly goto sleep. about 2-3months ago i had a panic attack thinking that my heart had stoped and called an ambulance and they said that i was fine but did find that my heart is skipping beats but only when im wake up gasping for air. now i get thers weird feeling in my arms and the head rush and when it happens i get a feeling of dred like im going to die/stop breathing. iv ready that anxiety can cause sleeping problems but iv also read that sleep apena can cause anxiety. im at a loss as wht 2 think. i feel so ill and the meds im on dont seem 2 be helping. Well thats everything lol hope i havent bored u lol

Hi dave firstly it sounds like anxiety and panic attacks secondly 'how long you been taking the medication' because it also sounds like your adjusting to the medication'

Hi david it seems that your symptoms are anxiety related also even though people take medication they can still endure the feelings of their anxiety related symptoms, also when a person is coming of medicatoon they can experience a effect called a re-bound effect , which basically means that the symptoms that the person was experiencing b4 medication was prescribed can either return on the medication or when the medication is decreased and withdrawal is active

the BMA state that drugs do not get to the root cause of Anxiety related problems and are no substitute for counselling or psychotherapy,

it might help for you to read Addiction by prescription by Joan gadsby,

it might be helpful for you to go to assertiveness classes which are superb and full of helpful insight.

good luck.

HI auralius, While I agree that counselling and such will help people understand the anxiety and how it affects you, and it will also get to the root of the problem so foundations can be built to recovery, there are times when people need medication. This can be for a number of reasons within the anxiety battle but all the same needed. Therefore it is always more helpful and pleasant if we do not push our views onto others and accept that they have to do it their way x ty
