Enough is enough!!: Hi everyone hope you are... - Anxiety Support
Enough is enough!!
Hi Lynne x All good here thanks x Sorry to hear the cbt did not help much, I really do think its a case of finding the one treatment that works for you, and for some this is cbt, for others is something maybe like hypnotherapy x I did find the cbt very useful in keeping the panic low enough to control but not enough to get me out and about x I can completely understand that you need to get somewhere and fast when you are the mother of 2 young boys. This is the sticking point for a lot of us, I have 2 young boys of 5 and 7 and I feel I miss so much and would try anything to get better, so good on you for doing so x I hope it goes really well for you, and keep us informed as some of the others on here have mentioned this treatment and it would be good to know if you recommend x Donver x
Hi thanks for your reply,as much as medication is enabling me to get out the house,I'm still struggling with everything, getting on buses or trains is just impossible.we lost 500 pound last weekend coz I freaked out about a train to edinburgh for a 2 night break that's when I realised the anxiety is controlling me and not me controlling it so needs must,il let you know how my first session on Wednesday goes x
Happy to help x Im glad the meds are helping you get out and about x I dont go anywhere my anxiety is still quite bad so I think its great that you have managed that x Its a real achievement x I can imagine that buses or trains are impossible for you, but this could be some claustrophobia to. Sorry to hear you lost some money, Ive been here to, I pulled out of a fantastic holiday last year to alcudia and lost me money on that the biggest loss was the kids and the hubby went alone and I was left devastated as I misses them so much. Yes its all about learning to control teh anxiety, its a demon that's running riot and we need to net it and keep it in the net x Yes please keep us informed x
Hey Lynne,
I'm sorry to hear that you're still struggling and that the CBT didn't work. I have to say I too found it limited in helping me but it did at least give a couple of tips which helped me realise I needed to make changes to get better.
It's such a shame that you lost out on a weekend away when it might have actually helped ease a little bit of anxiety once you were there (I know exactly what you mean about trains BTW!) I've been suffering from anxiety on an off for the last 2 years and I found myself almost backing out of going on my honeymoom it was that bad at one point! But I absolutely refused to give in; it took a monumental effort but I went and actually had a fantastic time and it wasn't anywhere near as scary as I'd built it up to be in my mind! Sometimes, even though it really is the last thing we want to do and it's really very scary, it's good to make ourselves do something that makes us a little uncomfortable because more often than not you realise that it's not as bad or scary as you'd built it up to be.
Good luck
x
Would love to know how it goes because I've often considered it, I have a real fear of hypnotherapy though (don't know why!) so I'd like to hear if it works for you. All the best. X
Really hope the hypnotherapy works. Sounds like you made a real step forward though last weekend in accepting that it is controlling you. I have two children and when things were tough that gave me the strength and focus to keep finding help x
Hi lynne,
As a sufferer of this anxiety curse for ca 35 years or so I have come realise that we can only ever try to manage it rather than cure it totally. After all it is only our body's "built-in" safety mechanism trying to keep us safe. If we were still "fighting dinosaurs" it would be useful!
I would be very keen to hear about your experiences with hypnosis, as hopefully it will provide some much needed help! A couple of years ago I tried acupuncture sessions. I think they did help but when I stopped (funding issues) symptoms have returned.
Anyhow, best of luck and let us know how you get on with the hypnosis.
Mallet-head.
All the best Lynne hope hypnotherapy work for you pls do let us know
