How long does this weirdess last? I take ativan to control it but I feel like I'll get addicted to that. Today I woke up at 5am and felt like I might forget to breath, I was afraid to fall asleep in case I would stop breathing, has that happened to anyone? Any thoughts for how long before I'll just feel normal again?

day three of lexapro, feeling weird still
I hjaveno experience with this med but know when I started taking my meds they took about two weeks to kick in.
Can you phone the practice nurse and speak to her and see what advice she may have? Julie xx
Thanks for the responses, do you think Lexapro can cause sleep apnea? I've never had trouble in the past. Also, it happened midday. Just like if I didn't pay attention to breathing I was afraid I wouldn't. I don't think its logical.
I have an appt with my therapist tomorrow and my nurse said to just keep going with it until I actually can't breath or get chest pains.
I'm just not convinced yet this is all worth it since my initial anxiety symptoms were only around a few weeks.
Hi Jexii, sorry it's taken me a while to respond to you. I have that fear, I can be in the middle of doing something and suddenly I think was I breathing! Yes I was, I don't gasp or jump it's my mind suddenly frightening me. With sleep apnea there are reasons behind it, ie over weight, a big snorer etc. Nearly all the time breathing is a sub conscious thing and we don't think about it. Unless you are exercising, breathing deeply to relax or having a panic/anxiety attack.
If you really are worried speak to your pharmacist or Dr to check on side effects.
I hope that helps xxx
Hey jexii
I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm on zoloft 50mg and on day 19 and been sleeping horrible for the past 2 weeks. Last night being the worst and this morning I am a wreck. Alone and no one to talk to. I'm trying as hard as I can to deal with this. I don't have a answer for u about how long it last but just know that I'm dealing with the same issues. Let's be strong and beat this. All ssri take about 3 to 6weeks to kick in and will make things worse before they get better. Hope u are feeling better.
