Why is it when I walk, I feel like im sinking/about to fall? Abit of dizzy too. I can feel my heart beat pounding hard but my heart rate and blood pressure is fine though. Anyone?

Hi Nnuralia, Oh I so remember those days in feeling like I was walking on a trampoline.

So many times I looked down to see if the sidewalk was sinking...Once I found the reason

for this happening, I was better able to cope with it until it entirely disappeared.

The Dropping Sensation comes about when stress happens too frequently in our lives,

and our body has a hard time in recovering. It stays in a semi-emergency state of fight or flight known as "hyper-stimulation". This is just one of the ways the over sensitized nervous system responds.

Our body uses it's sensory organs and nervous system to establish balance. A brief

disruption of our balance and placement results in this "falling, dropping sensation.

I hope this helps some... Knowing the cause can hopefully make us less fearful. :) xx

I have often felt like I was walking on a tightrope Agora1. It is my guess it is just a variation of the same theme.

Nora-B as long as we are focused on that feeling, our breathing won't be

relaxed. We will either be hyperventilating or holding our breath that just

plays into the fight or flight response. :) xx

Thank you! Its true tho! Im always stressing about the smallest things in life. I somehow know its the stressing thats causing this but whenever it happens I automatically panic and this falling sensation will always come back. Its annoying and scary. Trying to cope but thanks for the help. I feel a lil better that Im not alone

Nnuralia, you are never alone with your experiences on this site.

Anxiety plays a tough game and as long as it has someone it can put

fear into, it will continue.

The turn around will come when you start moving forward with other

methods/tools and hit Anxiety full force.

First comes acceptance that this is but a lie coming from a thought. Stressing

about things we can't do anything about need to be accepted. Those thoughts

that can be changed need action not worry.

The most important thing is finding a method of relaxation, time and practice.

When I started with Meditation and Breathing Techniques is when I became more

in control of my emotions. But first you need to accept that these worries, thoughts and

fears are not physically harmful. Once you get the adrenaline to calm down, you can go

forward.

It's not about trying but about doing. No, it's not easy at the beginning, but the more you

practice the easier it becomes.

That must become a daily mind exercise in order to work, not just when you are in a panic. Keep using this forum. We'll be here to help you take that step forward :) xx

How do you know all this

I started out with the book by Dr. Claire Weekes "Hope & Help for Your Nerves"

And then years and years of therapy and self researching articles in how the

Mind and Body Connect. It's takes time and perseverance but well worth the

outcome. :) xx

I’ve had that and it’s the worst 😭

Mine has been from migraines, new meds, med withdrawals, and low blood sugar.

I know it’s hard but whenever it happens try to trace what you’ve done before/what you’re feeling

Going through this from time to time. Hope you will be fine soon. It's been years for me. But as Agora1 mentioned, its the stress.

Hey Nnuralia I feel the same exact way! I have been having this sinking feeling when I walk for almost about 3 years now. Everytime I get up to walk outside and inside sometimes I start to get lightheaded and dizzy, at times it will feel like the world is spinning around me as if I was on a roundabout, every step I take feels like I'm slowly sinking into the ground and it will very frequently feel like I am shrinking in size too. You are not alone and I hope you are feeling better!
