I have never been abroad or flown although I would love to , my father was a flight engineer in the RAF for 33 years , hardly saw him when I was young as he was all over the world , I just wonder if it's the going away in my case as my father did , that's giving me the anxiety , I can't go , ! Although it's a general anxiety one side of me can do or want to do anything then I get this other side of me that says wooo cant do that , I do wonder if anxiety disorder is hereditary as my mother was a very nervous person wouldn't leave the house in her last 8 years , would love answers .

The more I gave spoken to my family I've found out that other members have had either depression or anxieties, so I do wonder aswell if it could be heredity?

My mum had fidgety leg syndrome (never cured or even a cause found) and my dad psychosomatic eczema, plus my nan, who lived with us when I was a little kid, was an out-and-out hypochondriac. I have health anxiety and a touch of GAD, so it's very possible I've picked-up or inherited my anxiety problems.

HI x my mam also had anxiety for 9 years x my nana was always convinced she was ill etc x and all this was negative influence which has rubbed off on me and made me anxious x Who can say maybe it is hereditary but it could be habits you have got from them that can be broken x Donver xx

Hi,

I agree with the comments, but their are other factors that can contribute to our insecurities.

I hope you get to go on holiday, it would boost your confidence. I too get nervous on going away, or planning a holiday, but I have done it and recommend it.

My wife and myself separated 5 years ago after 40 years together , I was so sad for her not going to these hot country's , I haven't seen my family for six years as my daughter says mum was a rock so she took mums side , I haven't seen my only grandchild who must be 10 now , they only live 6miles away but my daughter is very headstrong and says she can't see her dad as her career is more important .
