Thrown in the deep end....

Wow had my 2nd shift at the New Theatre last night and it was the show Thriller Live, so camp it's brilliant! Now I had a door all to myself so I was busy taken tickets and showing the lovely people of Cardiff to their seats, well some were so drunk they couldn't walk and so rude I could have slapped them hard! The show is brilliant, every song a hit and yes I did sing along now and then lol. The woman who should have helped me wasn't happy with me at all. She told the boss I was just using this job as a dance hall (I wasn't dancing and how can I use a dance hall?) and she also claimed I was letting people take photos.

I could see no one taking photos on my side of the theatre but she came over to me near the end, when I was watching the crowd, and demanded I stopped being a fan and do some work! The people taking photos were the ones who bought flashing white gloves! She had her hands full from the very drunk lady being sick and a group of women who were so drunk they talked loudly and wouldn't listen when we asked them to stop. Also before the show a woman locked herself in the disabled toilets and she wasn't going to the show, my fault again but I was busy then helping the woman with selling Thriller goodies.

Then I got attacked by a zombie! Well after being told off by a woman older then my Mum, I was down near the front of the stage looking at the crowd and well turned around to see two zombies standing behind me. I jumped and one pretend to bite my arm haha. All in all worth going to see as it's a great camp show.

I was happy when it was over. The bosses told me what the woman I was working with said, I got upset. I was stressed out and said she could have helped me more taking tickets. It was full on. Louise, the woman selling Thriller goodies give me a hug and said she told the bosses I did a great job helping her out before the show and felt I was left all alone on a busy night.

I am not back in till sometime next week or the week after. I am glad I did a busy fast night work but help would have been nice. I am calmer now :)

Also do you remember the girl band Cleopatra? Well Cleo Higgings was in the show and her sisters were watching. I opened a door for them during the break and knew who they were! I had to say Cleopatra comin' atcha! and they were not happy and turned their backs on me. I thought it was funny and so did the sound men and others around me lol

i find its always the slackers that go and tell tales to the boss, i think they have to justify themselves being there, i work with one and he gets away with doing sod all. I have never thought myself better than anyone else but on these occasions we are a better and nicer person that these idiots. Don't let anyone pull you down cos you sound as if you like your job and we need our jobs to keep us going. largest hug ever x

Thanks Hunnybug - I am loving this job (it's volunteer but still a job to me) but she really did upset me. I know I won't let her get me down. The more I work the more easier it will get for me.

hi Cardiff, what a great job, shame about some of the crowd and that idiot staff member, prob jealous cos your good at your job, sounds like a great show tho, well done. take care xx

Well done getting through the night it sounds really full on. What is the theatre's policy on drunken behaviour as some of the 'clients' seem a bit beyond the pail'. Just wondered.

I have no idea about their policy on drunken people! I felt they should have been thrown out for upsetting so many people that night but the woman I worked with wouldn't do it. I guess they paid their cash so can stay?!? I will look it up
