I wonder if our doctors are treating our symptoms seriously or I we thought as problem patients. If I had a broken arm I wouldn't feel embarrassed going to see my doctor, so why with health anxiety do I feel like apologising as soon as I enter the surgery.

I agree with you totally. I have a very good doctor who understands depression. But if I start talking about stress or anxiety she seems to be all at sea and not sympathetic. Her attitude seems to be that we all suffer from those and we have to find a way to deal with them like others do! Not very helpful. When I see her now I just discuss my depression and nothing else. Don't have any answers I'm afraid.

That's appalling.
I agree with you totally Bev. It's like banging your head against a brick wall
I fully sympathies, but If you've been diagnosed with 'health anxiety' I suppose your GP could conclude that you're exaggerating your symptoms? Sorry, I know you're not, just thinking what the perception of your Doctor might be.
Agree with you totally. I think my GP has lost the plot...... not me!!!! I avoid going back there now.
Hi jeffju know what u mean. You need a Valium just to calm you down to see the doctor.
I always need something to calm me down before going to see the doctor, I cannot even sit in the waiting room. I have to stand outside pace round the car park, go and sit in my car. The receptionists have to come and find me and if I have to wait any longer than 10 mins I ready to go! However my dr is nice but I don't feel like I'm getting any better!
