Haven't been on here for a few days..was feeling pretty normal with bouts of chest pain inbetween but was just trying to get on with it.
Went to the doctors yesterday and she was a cheeky mare, I explained what I had been feeling in my chest and she said "what were you coming here hoping I could do for you, what do you think it is...lung cancer?"
To say I was gobsmacked was an understatement but anyway she checked my lungs, heart, pulse, oxygen in the blood and my temperature and basically sent me on my merry way without even telling me what could be causing it, all she said was she couldn't find anything the matter. It's done nothing to reassure me and if anything last night I felt like someone was gripping my lung and heart so tight and it caused me to panic more. Right now as I'm typing this on the train my left arm feels numb but then it will go away. I just don't understand how my body can be producing these symptoms if nothing is wrong
It seems to me that you have a health anxiety with obvious concerns about your heart. The thing is that it is not life threatening but you probably feel it is.I am the same except that mine has disabled me.I have lost my job and unlike your good self could not get on a train.
Anxiety, mental illness, call it what you want IS AN ILLNESS and as such should be treated by doctors with respect and understanding.Making silly remarks about lung cancer is out of order and so is your doctor.
Can you not change her or see another doctor in the practice, one who understands that people with anxiety need as much help as some one who has obvious physical manifestations of an illness.
Good luck to you
By the way Ash, you live in a lovely part of good old Scotland..........ENJOY

She isn't even the doctor I go too, I had never been to her before I just took the first appointment I could get.
I don't know if I should just accept there is nothing wrong or go back to someone different for a second opinion.
Do you know where I live well lol

Hope you've had a good day today Obviously I am not a doctor but I am 99.9% sure that there is nothing physically wrong with you.
You've seen the doctor you've had tests and you've done the right thing because with chest pains it is essential to rule out anything serious. But you are showing all the signs of health anxiety.I.ve got it,it's quite common and if you find a cure please let me know.
When someone appears on here I look on their profile to see where they live and then google map it.And my! your area looks beautiful and quiet and calm
I do this because I live in a real grotty area and it was my theory that run down areas cause the most distress/anxiety.I have been proved wrong because I have come across many people who live by the sea or in really beautiful country areas and still suffer.Just proves that anxiety can attack anybody.
I'm sorry to hear you are not doing too well at the moment.
Some of the doctors are a joke, I have seen numerous doctors at my surgery not about my anxiety but about other things and they all seem to be uninterested, sometimes rude and make me feel like I am wasting their time. I hardly ever go to the doctor because of this, I really do not see it as a place to go where I will be welcomed , be able to talk about my problems and get some help, which is what a visit to the doctors should be like.
I wish you luck in finding a nice, helpful doctor.xx
