Does anyone else watch very sad movies to get a cry out?

Sometimes I realllly feel the urge to cry, but it won't come out. So I find a really sad tear-jerker and let all my tears flow out during that. Just curious if anyone does anything similar to this.....

I just sit there blankly...and I either eventually cry or go off and do something else. I have ADHD so it's easy to get distracted

I’m there with you……it’s ok to let it out. Crying can be very therapeutic. I went to a reunion and the stimulus was too much so I opted out on a field trip to go to two movies instead. I chose sad movies and cried through both of them. Felt a whole lot better after and could put up with the rest of the frivolities while I was with my siblings. Do what you need to take care of yourself.

Sometimes I listen to sad songs. I even have a sad songs playlist on my phone. We can't laugh all the time, sometimes it's good to have a good cry.

I do that!If I want to cry - and I mean, really cry, I watch the Disney film the Fox and the Hound - specifically the scene where the lady takes the fox she raised and releases him back to the wild. The song/poem she sings is 'Goodbye may seem forever'. Honestly, I breakdown every time.

You can either watch the whole animated film or just check YouTube for that one scene. I know everyone says Bambi is sad, and it is, but to me that scene in the Fox and Hound easily exceeds it. When I watch it I'm reminded of when my old dog was put to sleep and in recent months, the scene reminds me of my own loneliness and the fear that when I lose my aging parents, I will be truly alone in this world.

Another film that made my 2 friends absolutely ruined with tears is The Plague Dogs. It's based on the book by Richard Adams, who wrote Water ship Down. It's a very disturbing animation because it features animal vivisection, violence and swearing. The film also has a bad ending, which the book doesn't have. Amazingly, it was intended as a kids film. I was warned by my friends never to mention that film again. It doesn't make me cry, but it is very depressing.

I do this with music. But I usually have no problem crying on my own. I’m a very emotional person.

I have no problem crying! But if I want an “extra good” cry, I turn to music.
