My lips are swelling and this is the 3rd time in about a month. I thought I had developed an allergy to sushi bc i felt i could connect the first 2 incidents to that. But now i'm very very anxious about upcoming move out of state- and wonder if it's some new anxiety symptom. I'm fighting anxiety trying to distract, watch TV and my lips started itching and getting irritated. does anyone get this from anxiety?

Does anyone else get this bizarre symptom?
It could also be an allergic reaction. I get exactly the same thing when I eat cherries. It scared me too until I realized what caused it. I just don't eat cherries anymore. My son gets a similar reaction when he eats melons. See if there is something in common with all 3 episodes. It could be something you ate or drank. It could also be a smell or a chemical you were exposed to. My mother got a similar reaction when she was exposed to wet paint. If it continues to happen, see an allergist.
thanks b1b1b1 i connected the first 2 episodes to sushi, but now cant find a connection at all with today bc no sushi recently. I would hate if i developed allergies to multiple foods bc i love to eat, and hoping it's anxiety bc i know anxiety can have strange symptoms. i wondered if anyone else gets it from anxiety
While I am not a doctor, I don't think you would have allergies to multiple foods. Do you by any chance bite your lips if you are anxious?
no i'm pretty sure i don't. the closest i heard anyone come to this symptom is my friend who has anxiety, her lips get numb when she is very anxious but i don't think they actually get red and swollen. i just added a pic to post , to show swelling and little bumps on upper lip though since you don't know my actual lip size you wouldn't know that it slightly swollen. this pic was from 1st time it happened. now is 3rd time, they're not at that point yet but i can see the edges are red. there are no bumps yet like in the pic. i did google and saw that anxiety can cause swelling but who knows how reliable that is that's why i thought i'd try to find out if anyone actually experiences it
Does this happen right after you ate? I do see the swelling. Idk if anxiety can cause this. Maybe others on the forum will have answers.. If you are worried, though I would see a doctor, if only to set your mind at ease. If it is an allergy (and I am not saying for sure that it is), I think these things can be treated easily with allergy medication, as needed i.e zyrtec. (I am in the US, so if you are in UK, may have a different name.
Do you ever break out with hives? My nephew had bad hives and they even form in your mouth. It could be hives but I would get it checked out.
did he get it from anxiety? That i heard of - my friend's mother gets hives all over whenever she is very stressed and anxious . I've been highly anxious about upcoming move. YEah i suppose if it gets bad i have no choice but to go to Dr, i was just hoping there's someone out there who gets irritated lips from anxiety. What a hassle if i have some other health problem with food, on top of already debilitating anxiety/depression. Thanks for reply
Yeah my nephew gets anxious. It is so bad I even told his mom my sister in law that I think he has anxiety. I notice a lot of the things I would do at his age he does and I wound up agoraphobic. Moving is a pain.
I have never experienced this through anxiety, but have with allergic reactions, maybe some allergy tests would help you determine if there is an allergy, good luck
I have that reaction when I take the medication Sulfa. So sorry you are going through this - I know it's miserable and strange!
Should see a doctor probably allergies.
