Anyone else suffer from SAD?
I use a light box this time of year.
What is a light box ?
You can look up ‘light therapy lamps’ to see more about them -they basically have therapeutic dose of bright light like the sun gives. So you can sit by it when you can’t get out in the sun.
Yes, around now in November when the days get gray and cold I start to feel more depressed. It’s like I want to hibernate like a bear. Stay in bed and not go outside.
Just snack and watch christmas films haha
*Slowly raises hand*
I've always had SAD to a certain degree, (especially since I live in an area with a lot of grey skies too) but this year has been extra hard for me with my parents having some health issues this year.
It's made me a little bit more emotional than previous years.
This is probably the worst year that I have had with SAD up to this point in my life.
Yup, I get it EVERY YEAR. friendswiththemonster.net/2...
If your finances allow it, I agree that a SAD lamp can be very helpful. I had mine bought for me by a charity 5 years ago and it makes such a difference to my mental health. Or get outside if you can as the light outside will help. Best wishes from a fellow SAD sufferer xx
Yup! It's been raining cats and dogs where I live. It's also cold and cloudy.
When the weather permits, I find that going outside, even if for a 10-min walk with my pup helps.
Hang in there!
I suffer from it whenever the fall months come around. For no reason that is apparent to me I get very depressed. I was diagnosed with SAD a very long time ago. A light box puts off light that mimics sunlight. You can find them on Amazon. I have one. It wasn’t very expensive when I bought it. You spend a certain amount of time sitting in front of it. Helps with SAD(seasonal affective disorder ).
Yes, I can relate. At this time of year I can feel it creeping across me, as the days shorten.
What makes it worse for me is that my window is south facing, so the very low sun is shining in all the day.. I love the heat and the sunlight but right now I'm having to wear sunglasses indoors!
Either that, or I have to draw my curtains, which makes the room so dark I have to have a light on. With Fibromyalgia, I get a lot of winter pain. Messed up internal Thermostat!
I'm happiest and most pain free when the weather is warm and the days are long
Cheers, Midori
Yes, I do.
