hi all. I suffer with extreme health anxiety which has started to affect my life and ability to be a mum. I’ve been on Sertraline for 15 years. I feel like it’s stopped working for me now and dose changes aren’t making much difference. Has anyone ever came off Sertraline and started an alternative (eg citalopram) and has any success stories?
hey, I was on citalopram for about a year, meds work differently for others, I thought they were good for the first few months but I ended up having such vivid dreams. I suffer with PTSD so the dreams were really hard to cope with them a couple of other side effects kicked in so my doctor tapered me off them slowly which I still found quite bad, my moods were all over the place. They could be great for you, I’ve heard from a lot of people they have been such a help to them so good luck
As a former nurse, I can say that staying on the same meds as long as you have is not good, as your body adjusts to them but may give you some problems during a changeover. I'm surprised your doctor has not suggested a change before this.
All bodies are different and react differently to medications, there is no One Med to Fit Them All, and sometimes it's harder to find a good fit with meds. Especially during a change. I used to be on Sertraline, but weaned myself off them.
