Sertraline

Hi all. I've been prescribed Sertraline start with 50 mg dose. I've done my research on this med and read that it can cause weight gain😔 I've just come of Mirtazapine because of this problem and I believe Sertraline dosent act as a sedative? I'm so down and anxious about finding the right meds for me. I suffer badly from insomnia due to anxiety. Has anyone had same problems with Sertraline and did you find alternative? TIA

I’ve been on sertraline for a few years, at times 25mg and others 50mg. I personally haven’t had any issues outside of the initial couple weeks of side effects. I started on 25mg then moved to 50mg after a couple weeks. My experience has been mostly positive.

I also believe that 50mg is a relatively low dose.

I am on week 5 of Sertraline and nausea and insomnia still really bad lost 2 stone because loss of appetite and anxiety still bad,Dr said to persevere for another couple of weeks then if no better he will review the medication hope you have a better result on this tablet I am taking 50 mgs.

I had a really hard time starting sertraline but once I was leveled out it worked great. In my case, I gained weight on it but truthfully it was more my bad habits feeling really good on the meds. Be mindful about what you’re eating and exercise and you should be fine!

I lost about 10 pounds at first due to loss of appetite, but gained it back once my appetite was back. I'm on week 9 and haven't felt many benefits yet, feeling discouraged.

Hi I am just on end of week 7 and don’t feel any benefit only bad ringing in both ears I am as from today halving dose from 50 mgs to 25 mgs and then one every other day until off them,I actually feel worse with taking these tablets and 7 weeks of side effects is just to much.are you still taking them if so I hope you start to feel better.
